Well said! At the end of the day you have to use your technique to say something, to make music! I find it useful sometimes to play as if I’m a rapper. They use all sorts of rhythmic phrasing, but to say something! This also brings feeling and composing into your drumming, which is so much more rewarding than endless technical exercises. When you hear something you want to say, it pulls along your technique because it has a purpose. So important, and so well said. Thanks!

As a beginner drummer I’m striving to be more organic and shake off the technical - it’s not that easy but your teaching goes a long way to sorting this. Thanks soo much Q…✌️🌻

thank you Quincy Davis. Your emphasis on getting the snare right is so spot on. I avoided it for a time, but now realize with your terrific tutorial, what needs to happen. folks this is a lesson to watch more than once.

Thank you for these! I love the examples and breaking it down into simple ideas to work from. Most teachers get way into jargon and technicality but your videos are fun and easy to follow.

Love this. I’ve spent allot of time in the NARD solos book but I always feel mechanical or contrived when trying to incorporate those techniques. You do it really well.

Back into drumming after 50 years! Bought an electric set (live in a townhome) started working on rudiments and found your channel. Wow! This is exactly what I needed. Really enjoying your videos. Thank you! You have a great delivery. What kind of sticks are those with a black tip and what size?

I like to use Max Roach “The Drum Also Waltz’s” from his Drums Unlimited album as a practice routine with variations. Could you possibly expand on this. It’s a nice intro to 3/4 world to comps and fills.
