1972 I am a musician and I plyed at a theater with band called Plymouth Rock at a place called The Circle Electric Theater in October to December. Im 73 yrs old and the memories linger like yesterday. What got us this gig was we would play Smoke on the Water cover by Deep Purple and we did a good version of it which the French people loved and we stayed for a little more than two months and we had the time of our lives in Quebec. Two band members have passed away since then and two of us are still here. What sets me off about this is , i met a French girl that spoke fluent English and became good friends as she would visit me on the band's days off. Her name was Lu Lu . One jealous band member at the end of our contract told her I had a serious girlfriend at home . She left my room one day and I never heard from her nor thanked her for being a great companion while I was there. I could have knocked the socks off this band member for saying anything to her. I didn't find out until years later as to why she just was gone until another band member spilled the beans to me. So hey Lu Lu ; your probably married with kids and up in age like me ; Thanks for a great time showing me the city so many years ago. I don't think you'll ever see this coment but at the least it was an unforgettable time I had with you on my boring days off. Quebec City yreated us very well. Never visited there again. The same band member fired our manager so that was something i didn't know until years later. I do know that he's damn lucky to still be alive.😅

The Beaver tails restaurant 14:06 , is situated in the former home of my distant ancestor, Jean Demers, who retired from farming on the Etchemin river, to this home/ store that he had built around 1689... My Paternal Grandmother and 2 of my 2nd Great-Grammas were Demers! (One on each side)

@@monicamcfadden another question…by chance, did your husband have relatives that lived south of Lafayette around Dayton? There were McFadden’s near my grandparents. Just curious.

Great video.. We start our 14 day cruise from there on October 20th staying at the same hotel. Did you experience any issues with the language or currency?

Thanks! That sounds like a blast! Most places didn’t take American Express, but we used a Visa card we have that has no foreign transaction fees everywhere we went. Had no problem with that. And almost everywhere we went spoke French and English! They say “Bonjour, Hello” when greeting you to test the waters, and when you respond back with Hello, they continue talking in English. 😊

@@monicamcfadden Yeah, in Québec it's mostly Vida vs MasterCard. In touristy places you'll always find someone who understands English. Elsewhere I'd suggest learning basic words that will help you with finding your way around. Words in French for bridge, street, forbidden, warning, cost, left, right, etc. Google Lens application can help. Most roadsigns use pictograms anyway. Restaurant menus will be bilingual in most restaurants, or an English version will be provided if you ask (or if you look confused). People are friendly in general, and crime rate is very low. You can carry alcohol around and drink in parks. Oh course, people will be less friendly if you are rude or show impatience when they speak French.

Based on this video it appears $50 doesn't get you very much in Quebec, other than bordem...
