having been a fan of Beyond since the early days, somehow her singing just doesnt hit right.... cant really pinpoint whats the issue, just not feeling right.

Beyond has been the inspiration to many music professionals in mainland. But to general public, we should be thankful that GEM's covers actually make it so widely known and popular. Just personal preference. To me her covers are unique and not any little bit less fantastic than the original legend.
