Richard Barr yeah, down south it’s all westerns, up here..we are doing dress hats since 1911.. I can shape a western, but my skills aren’t anything compared to a guy working at a shop in a Texas or whatever.. I’m mostly dress hats, yup. Thanks for the nice words!

U can practice on an old junk hat if u have one.. practice without steam.. look at photos of hats as a model,after a couple of tried it gets easier

Good morning Kevin I sent you a message on this topic. This morning i followed your directions and was very successful. Once i started it became easier i wish i cod send you a picture or two. So you could critic my work. Seriously it looks very good. By the way i m a Stratocaster caster man. I have played all over our country and beyond. Ive been playing all my life from the age of 5 . I use two Marshall full stacks. And a few pedals. Thanks for the info on the hats.

Opening up a blocked hat will not be easy at home without the right equipment, it’s not going to be easy, but can always send it to me, I’ll be b k at work in 1-2 weeks, I’ll do it free, just have to pay for shipping, it’ll come back in. Hat box double boxed ,cost to ship it back is like $16-17 or so

The Stetson Tri City www.jjhatcenter.com/products/the-tri-city-by-stetson?variant=11744527843372 great hat, the thing is, Stetson felts ship in mid September, right now they’re shipping only straws,plus, last fall , because of the pandemic, they barely shipped anything at all. So we have very little stock now. I think in black we only have 57’ (7 1/8) iin grey too , only size 7 1/8 left. They start to ship again in mid September

Will this work on a stetson 10 gallon type hat?

It’ll work on a Tom Mix, but there’s no guarantee that it’ll look good, some brims look better with certain crown shapes. A Tom mix is a tough one to wear flat, but it would work
