This process control system allows the research students to implement and test their PID control algorithms.
The system consists of two coupled tanks that are connected to the same water reservoir. Each coupled tank is fed from one pump.
The upper tanks have one inlet from the pump and 2 outlets, one to connect to the bottom tank and the other one as a disturbance.
The bottom tanks have two inlets one from the upper tank and the other from the pump and one outlet.
For safety measures, the tanks also have emergency drains.
We also provide pipes of different diameters to run the system with different flow rates. The manual valves on the pipes also can be used to change the water flow. Additionally, the output pipes can be replaced with gravity flow.
The system also has a control&measurement module that implements the control of the pumps and solenoid valves and the water level measurement.
All this data is available on the open-source software that comes with the system. The software is fully developed in LabVIEW and allows implementing different control algorithms.
On the software UI, you can monitor the water level of each tank. Also, you can control the pumps either manually or automatically through the PID controller.
