Gotta give Trusova praise here. She still has the best quads in ladies right now. Her salchow and toe loop are great quads. Hopefully she can make the lutz and flip more clean so she can get better GOE's on them but honestly, her salchow and toe loop are it for me, they are great! Even in combos! Hopefully as she grows and becomes a senior she can stay healthy cause I'd hate to see her lose those quads and worse, get injured trying to get them back or get injured trying too much. I just wish her nothing but good health and skating

I didn't think the sal was great - she always struggled to land and rotate it because she can't seem to get the height and rotation speed. But her 4T is the best in ladies, it's also the biggest jump in ladies by a large margin, especially since Tsurskaya has retired.

I agree. I think they’ll probably reassess Tursynbaeva’s quad next season because it’s basically a full turn of prerotation and Trusova will get the first ratified quad in seniors. I really want to see kostornaia get quads... that one video of when she temporarily had a 3A was gorgeous and she already has amazing artistry so she’d be probably more unbeatable than trusova

Tweet Tweet I gotta give it to Trusova for at least landing a clean 4T! Her Lutz has the best edge of the quad ladies jumper but its still UR and significantly prerotated. She should give up on her 4S as she kept falling on it during competitions and her attempt at 5 quads during the RusNats were disastrous and I don’t know what will happen to her in the future... she is a fighter though. I am worried because Lilbet already severely damaged her back from all these quad trainings at 19

When Sasha first ask to learn quads Eteri refused saying it was too much especially when the little one had troubles with the triple axel. But Sasha kept asking until her coach agreed. And now even today it is Sasha who begged for the five quads because that’s what she wants to do. If Midori Ito were in her prime in 2019, she would be landing real quads, not the under-rotated ones many of the ladies in the video are landing. Midori was the greatest technical power skater ever in ladies skating. No lady, including Tonya, can touch Midori's triple axel. In Midori's time (late 80's early 90's) the triple axel was the ultimate in ladies skating, there was no need for her to attempt quads. Today, quads have become the norm in men's skating, so the ladies are looking to push forward to quads. Midori rivaled the men in her day in jumping ability so you know she would be attempting and landing quads today.

@@v.morawska6764 thank you for your excellent comments. I remember seeing a video interview of Midori with english subtitles where she was talking about the 1988 calgary olympics. Video was probably done in 2008 or so. Midori said that she did 5 different triples in her LP where Katarina did two and Katarina won gold and Midori came 5th. Midori said she decided at that point she had to introduce a triple axel into her skating to win at the international level. She said she had attempted the 3A and even quads at 14 but had fractured her ankle so her coach Machiko Yamada forbid her from trying them. I also saw a posting somewhere from hennagaijin100 who said he has known Midori for 30 years or so. He said that her practice sessions at the Nagoya Sports Center were legendary. Her 4T is her only actual true and solid quad she has done. Everything else is either underrotated/prerotated or have wrong technique. Anna’s 4Lz(Loop????) is horrible and should NEVER receive a GOE as close to Boyang Jin, best 4Lz jumper in history. Ever. Compare their jumps side by side and there’s a massive difference. I support ladies doing quads because it will push the sport aspect from figure skating. But please do them correctly. Those quad "lutzes" are floopz with cheated take off. Sasha should just stick with quad toe and quad sal and I am still happy with that. Seeing those cheated quads getting full goe just deprive me from any excitement. If 3Lz with PR 180 degrees is de facto acceptable then why 4Lz should be treated differently? Maybe the problem is not in quads at all?
@yohanes2034
@yohanes2034 5 жыл бұрын
@@pavelolkhovoy113 I know that prerotations also happened in triple jumps. I guess because everyone now competes with 3 jumps, the prerotation problem really does not impact scoring that much. But quad is a different beast, it has higher base value (almost twice than its respectice triple) so when someone quad gets ratified, it will give a huge score advantage. In ideal world, right technique (including in 3 jump) should be scored more and less correct technique (such as huge prerotation) should be penalized by minus GOE.
@pavelolkhovoy113
@pavelolkhovoy113 5 жыл бұрын
@@yohanes2034 Then, there's actually competition between prerotated triples and prerotated quads. Anyway, prerotated quads are harder to perform than prerotated triples. It's harder to get a good GOE for a quad (complicated entry is risky, etc), high risk of a fall. That's why high BV is fair. If we consider that all Lz must have PR below 90 degrees then almost all 3Lz performed today should be marked < and

@@yohanes2034 Yes, maybe. But judging is a foggy topic anyway. I'd rather like to know where the PCS comes from in reality (not in theory) and why it's impossible for a skater to get like 7 for SS, 5 for transitions and 9 for interpretation. And why the difference between different judges' marks is so little, unlike GOE, where one judge may give +4 and other -1 for the same element. Looks like it's not judges who decide which PCS is to be given.

Winter Olympics’ Ladies Figure Skating will the competition of the Russians, some Koreans and Japanese. I kinda wanna bet on Rika’s win though because the system kinda favors her technically. Even though she don’t have the more difficult quads, she has 3A which she can maximize on her SP. Though it seemed that Trusova also knows how to jump her 3A. I don’t know how it will go since Russia’s ladies seemed also having a hard time with their growth spurt. So it will be interesting to know who will win.

muscle memory doesn't count for much with figure skating jumps. Skaters lose their jumps ridiculously easy and changes to the body during female puberty have a huge effect on rotational speed - those two things in combination make it very easy for a pre-pubescent female skater to lose her quads.
