I was just stating what I've heard. I haven't used a private server since BC. Everyone says it's illegal though because it's breaking a terms of use law. You're redistributing/or using something that made by someone else who specifically said "No, you can't use this for own thing" which would include private servers. Blizz isn't getting paid for play time on those servers, which could lead to a downfall, which could potentially. not likely, but potentially lead to WoW shutting down in the future.

The only thing that would fill that void is if blizz would take a 180 and started taking risks with wow again. Would it fix it? Who knows, but everything is better than a 3D facebook game that wow has became.
