I absolutely love how this track feels like you're deep into enemy territory on a suicide mission. The enemy knows where you are, and they're sending all they've got. But you can take them, because you can. Not even the powers that be can stop you from fulfilling the mission laid out before you. Kill. The. Makron.

Actually, Quake 2 was developed as id Software moved into a more professional step. So yeah, far away from what you described.

@@TheFieryWind99 I would also add that Carmack is part of the reason game development moved away from that old style. For better and worse. Revolutionizing 3d graphics improved games and Quakes DNA is somewhere in every modern shooter. But with better graphics and complicated engines came a need for more employees and longer development times.

"Inexperienced college kids". Jesus Christ, dude. id Software were world leaders in 3D game engines and about as professional at it got when it came to game development in 1997.

It's so weird to me, the difference in the gaming scene nowadays. I spent time thinking what could be it but I don't think there's one single psychological reason that we can point to as the culprit for this change.

Maybe the problems have always existed, and maybe the vast majority of the population was ALWAYS this dumb, overly-sensitive and dysfunctional, but due to the fact that internet access was not so prevalent and there weren't places for people to concentrate into, we didn't notice they were already there. Maybe that's it.

that is a fantastic map pack by the way... don't misss on it... might as well be a AAA retail game, hours upon hours of gameplay out of it... let alone the multiplayer cooperative servers of it being hosted in Doomseeker right now
