Love the videos Andrew. I've been fishing almost exclusively the last 12 months with aliexpress lures/hooks and tungsten products. There are some real good gems out there but as you mentioned a lot of rubbish too. I've been very impressed with some of the 30-50mm wobblers for trout too. I found some excellent quality cheb hooks from Gamakatsu on there for £1.80 perm pack of 10. The Tsurinoya T Tail lures have been exceptional for my perch fishing

I also love Ali, I haven't really found much rubbish, Though I did buy a big bag of small lures I have about 50 which cost me £30 so they are what they are but you can't complain at 60p per lure. The unbranded hooks I have bought look very good quality. I have loads of soft lures, usually under 1£ for a bag of 6 or 8. would be £3.99 here. But the rods and reels are the real bargains,

Great Video, Have you ever seen any barbless jig head of offset hooks ? for those venues that dont allow barbed hooks.
@AndrewsKnots2 жыл бұрын
They are very rare and not only on Ali..

I have also been looking. Also for barbless treble hooks but they simply don't exist. To be honest I haven't used barbed hooks for thirty years but neither have I used barbless. I prefer hooks with the barb squeezed down with pliers which still leaves a bump to help it stay in. I do use barbless on Carp lakes where that is the rule.

Hi Andrew, love your channel, you seem to be on the same wavelength on much of my thoughts, methods and ideas regarding my LRF fishing, this video is very relevant as the range on Ali Express is enormous and it's great to have some pointers to save some time (and money) wasting!! I am on the lookout for some nickel plated treble hooks around UK size 14, I have had a look on AE but again the range is bewildering, have you purchased anything like that from AE that you could recommend? Keep up the good work with your excellent "niche" channel.

Thanks. I don't use and recommend others to look the other way from trebles.

@@redtobertshateshandlesthat is literally insane 😂💀 here’s a reality check. If you are a consumer any where at any time you are 99% of the time supporting Chinese manufacturing wether you refuse to believe it or not. Furthermore, how are you concerned over human rights issues with Chinese manufacturing when you go out of your way to support the USSR economy a Totalitarian regime. Honestly the hypocrisy and ignorance is bewildering. Had to say something …

Hi Andrew, great videos and tips. I have been tempted several times to try AE but have been put off as you can’t pay safely using PayPal, as most companies choose not to register with them. I don’t want to be scammed as so many people have, so how do you shop safely with them? I thought about opening a bank account with very limited money to use purely for this, but it seems a lot of bother. Credit cards and debit cards do not seem to be safe. Great site👍

Hi I am not Andrew but I can answer as it requires explanation and Andrew is usually brief. Firstly you are misinformed or out of date, I always pay with Paypal, never had a problem. I only started using Aliexpress a year or so ago and I think Paypal may not have been available before that. I have bought loads of stuff from many different vendors, rods, reels (loads never paid more than £55), lures (loads mega cheap) terminal tackle, braid, hooks. I have yet to buy anything I was disappointed with. The reels (baitcasters) sometimes need a bit of tuning up, taking to bits and re-lubing. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for stuff to arrive. AE doesn't pay the money to the vendor until you confirm they have arrived and you are satisfied, otherwise you can open a dispute, much like Ebay. I can't say how that goes as I have never had to do it. They do now charge you the 20%VAT on orders under £150. I have bundled a few reels together to make it over £150 and they came through nicely untaxed, so there's a good tip. Cheers Si

@@simonhawkins386 Thanks Simon. I am puzzled though as I spent a lot of time choosing a selection of great looking lures (about £35 worth, so quite a few!), set up an account etc only to find I couldn’t pay with PayPal!?! I looked for guidance and it says about sellers not being registered with PayPal, so ? A pity because the lures look great.
@AndrewsKnots2 жыл бұрын
Ali site itself is very safe and their buyer support is top notch. You will only have issues if you will be buying stuff when using infected machine etc.etc. but then Paypal is not safe and buying online in general is not safe.
@paulharris68862 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewsKnots infected machine? I guess you mean phone/tablet/pc. I use a regularly updated iPhone, so might be ok. I think I’m going to have to risk it - looking at what they have to offer is like being a child in a sweet shop! Great site Andrew - thanks👍

@@paulharris6886 Maybe the seller. Try these ESfishing (they do some big soft plastics and have just added some nice pig shads), Meredith do really nice lures, also B&U and Jubao sell The Time lures and tungsten weights and they are real quality. But you will find others, so many tackle traders on Ali . I recommend Obei for rods.
