What is shoegaze?!?!
@Poignant_Ritual9 ай бұрын
@@cantskateswitchlikethat it's a genre thats like 80% of this songs DNA. Some bands: Whirr (basically my favorite) My Bloody Valentine Animal Ghosts Nothing (a heavier sound like this track, Nothing has some punk influences) Infinity Girl Kraus Leaving Time Grivo Sianspheric Pasteboard (Japanese) Deafcult (one of my personal favorites) Oeil Slow Crush (another favorite) True Widow (a shoegaze/doom hybrid) Doused My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive are largely considered foundational acts to the genre. Bands like Whirr, Deafcult, and Nothing are more modern takes. Bands like Smashing Pumpkins (especially Siamese Dream) and Deftones are hugely influenced by the genre. There's a lot of stuff to explore in SG. Title Fights latest album has a lot of shoegaze stuff in there too.

@@semekiizuioyeah that’s where the shoegaze aspect comes into play. It’s not meant to necessarily be heard lyrically, but instead as a whole. The way the music blends in with the vocals and takes us away to a trance-like state, that’s what it’s all about

@@Poignant_Ritualjust a little bit of early 2000s energy in the video
@Poignant_Ritual9 ай бұрын
@@ttynkc that's true too, I don't mean that this track/video doesn't have its own special flavorings. Just pointing out that the genre specifically is very often nostalgic, melancholic, and dreamy. I don't produce music or know anything about theory but I think a lot of it has to do with Shoegaze's wall of sound, and the way the vocal track is usually kind of lost in the mix and used as another instrument. It makes the distinctions between sounds blurry; you're not completely sure what is said, only interpreting an abstraction of a mood or a theme - the same way distant memories are or the sensation of nostalgia. Quannnic is like smashing pumpkins or Deftones where there is obviously some shoegaze DNA present, but some other stuff is mixed in so that there is a distinct kind of sound that still achieves a lot of the sensation and texture specific to shoegaze in general. I am high as fuck writing that so sorry for the wall of text lol

I'm a really happy go lucky guy at work these days. I've got lots of good people in my life. I have every reason to be happy all the time. That said.... I'm also a combat veteran. Once in a blue moon a song comes along that exposes some pain I've been carrying around with me. Doesn't have to be the words or the beat specifically; it just guides the memories past my eyes like watching a movie. Thank you for letting me cry today. I've been putting it off for about 12 years. I eagerly await how far you go with this gift you have. There's so much music in the world today, but the song that heals cut through that noise like gravity through space.
