love your videos - how do you find this approach different/better than simply using incrementing ATR factors for your confirmation threshold? I have done this and it seems to work well, although i assume with different results

Nothing wrong with incrementing ATR factor, but doing that will have redundant information more often. If you had a directional change set at 1 and 2 ATR. You might have a 2 ATR move without a 1 ATR atr pullback. So the top and bottom found from each would be the same.. I find this undesirable. Also with this method you don't have to pick numbers-- what ATR increments to use.
