Quantitative sales forecasting uses tools such as extrapolation to make predictions about the future using past data. Three point or four quarter moving averages can be used to smooth out any fluctuations in data and make predictions more likely to be accurate. Correlation data can also be used to estimate the impact of one variable on another.
