I remember the LCT models. An ex of mine's mom had a HP pavilion desktop and it had a 30GB (i think?) LCD model in it. I remember each time it was turned on the whine of the drive spinning up and the heads doing their seek test. I also remember the klunk and whine of the drive parking the heads and spinning down. Quite loud! She had Windows 98SE on it to start with then later when XP became a thing I upgraded the RAM in it and installed XP. She used it for a long time until she got a better tower ( a pentium 3 1.0 ghz ) with a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 8 40 GB. Keep up with the videos! I enjoy seeing vintage computer hardware at work!

The lct was a low end offering so it isn't too surprising to find them in OEM machines, just like OEMs also used Bigfoots, or U series for exemple. Yep those drives are still quite loud and memorable. A DiamondMax plus 8 on the other end must have been very very silent compared to the lct.

This one actually sounds quite nice! Also, spindle noise is not very noticeable... it wasn't picked up by the microphone or it's really not that noisy?

The spindle sounds was picked up, it isn't very noisy. This drive has good bearings and those still had nice loud seeking sounds
