Quantum X vacuum review after using a full year

I used to be a huge fan of Dyson animal vacuum's for years then I discovered the Shark brand of vacuum's and have been using the Shark Apex for the past few years. Advertisements for Quantum x keep popping up and I was seriously considering buying one, now because of your review I will be making that purchase. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion and especially for the year later update, that made all the difference with my decision.

What made me suspicious is that the ad would not tell me how much it was. Then I started checking reviews and there were so many issues.

You're lucky to get it working a year!. We've had ours just under 6 months and now it keeps powering itself on and off. Inspecting the cable connector that goes into the vacuum, there's barely any metal contact. Looks like a tiny sliver of copper. The spade connectors on the vacuum look abnormally small with both being the same shape, not like the Hot and Neutral that connects to an outlet. Contacting them via email, they are sending a replacement cable which i thought so. So obviously they know about this problem which might creep up with yours sooner or later! Apart from this issue, it really does keep the dust and hair down bought in by our 2 springers.

So far no issues and I use it 2x weekly. I’ll at least know if I run in to that issue thanks for sharing. And yes water trap vacuums really keep the dust and dander down.

Here's my review (10 months 2023) it's very heavy vacuum cleaner and every time you use it you have to clean out that nasty mess in the water filte. Which is OK because you're not blowing air around and getting everything dirty and dusty again. It's easy to take apart and clean out the tubes. There's a video out there that shows you how you can take the cleaning head off. But when my rollers wouldn't rotate and I cleaned them they said push the red button on the back of a powerhead to restart. Mine was not RED!!! it was a little black tab/square button that looked like just part of the machine. Took me forever trying to find a RED BUTTON (on the Quantum x vacuum) When I found this little black square I pushed it and the rollers started working. PS. The serious downside besides the fact that it's an extremely heavy vacuum cleaner you cannot wrap the cord around and the bag Has to just sit on the floor but the biggest issue is the fact that if you extend your cleaning wand completely out using all the attachments it does not suck very well at all. So when I use my cleaning wand to vacuum the hardwood floors to get back underneath the chairs and stuff I only use 2 extensions rather than 3. And within the 1st month of June using it the flexible cable that attach is the wand tore off and I had to tape it back on

Keep your money.I bought mine in October 2020. In April 2021 a called someone to professionally clean my carpets. I vacuumed the night before with my quantum to see what the professional would pick up. The guy showed up with a shark. Filled up his cannister like I had never vacuumed a day. The company's suggested that I had years of dirt. Ummmm...no I had a shark before and no one ever picked up that much dirt after I vacuumed with my shark. The next suggestion was to clean out the vacuum. Ohhh kay...never had to do that with a shark but I guess water combines with dirt to make mud and sludge. I'll update to see if that does anything for me.

@@Beardman56 to clarify...the issue is with the Quantum x not Shark. The quantum x is bulky, messy, clogs a lot even after cleaning it after every use(which took at least an hour to rooter every nook an cranny). The quantum x died 6 months after purchase. The company sent me a new cord. It took forever to arrive. I ended up ordering a Shark Vortex and received it in less than a week. I put the quantum x in the garage. It's been there for a year. My Shark Vortex has a 5 year warranty. The Quantum X could not be returned after 6 months because the warranty was only good for 30 days. I bought a Shark over 10 years ago...it is still running great! Yes, filters need to be cleaned, hoses replaced, duct tape in some places. It still runs great. I've had hoovers...they are loud, a little heavy but the one I had lasted longer than 5 years. Still better than the Quantum. I'll sweep my carpet with a broom before I but a quantum x again. I hope this update is clear on how horrible the quantum x vacuum is.

@@c2itfirst795 Are you a sales rep for Shark? It sure sounds like it to me. The Quantum X has great suction. Something is obviously wrong with your specific machine. That may be a great place to start, just sayin....Be Well...

@ dr Jeffrey S. Rise no I am not a sales rep for shark vacuums. I just own a few and know that my experience wasn't a positive one with the Quantum X. I ditched the Qx bought a Shark. I've had it for almost a year now and it's been great. Hasn't clogged, no mud or sludge to deal with, no hair clogs. Didn't waste $400. Happiness all the way around.

When you open the box , is there a strong chemical smell ? All the parts have the chemical smell and during vacuuming I also smell the motor "vacuuming" smell . Do you ?

I only noticed a plastic factory smell first few times I used machine and really wasn’t that strong or I’m not as sensitive possibly. After first few uses I didn’t notice smells at all.

Thank u for replying. I think the one I recieved is a used one/refurbished. But I paid for a BRAND NEW one. I contacted them to return for refund, but they are making me pay $30.00 for shipping it back because I say no for replacement (the smells caused me so much problems and that's wrong to make me pay for return ) . They did sell refurbished ones for $299.99 (sold out recently) . Pretty messed up that they shipped me a used/refurbished one when I had paid for a brand new one . There are few other details that made me come to this conclusion (that the one I received is used refurbished).

I have all hard wood floors minus a few rugs. Would you recommend this if you just have hard wood floors? I do have 2 dogs long hair as well

I would still suggest this vacuum even if all hard wood floors. It’s massive air flow would be able to clean your floor very well. It would require you to add on the hard floor attachment brush that is available from the manufacturer. Water trap vacuums in my opinion are the best you can use on cleaning due to the high air flow they maintain during the entire cleaning process. Hope this helps!

I'd like to know if you have problems cleaning the vacuum head? We have long hair that gets wrapped around the beater bar.

No not really besides occasional threads from throw rugs it basically is free of debris when I finish cleaning and I do check it each time. However no one in my house has long hair so could be reason I don’t experience this.

Can’t add anything that suds. You can add scents and non-sudsing deodorizers made for water vacs only.

It does have a powerful motor so yes it is fairly loud. My last canister water vac was loud also. It really doesn’t bother me that much but if someone is sleeping you wouldn’t want it running.
