I remember using the service. Looking at this commercial, it seems remarkable that the basic elements of communication, file sharing, gaming, and online shopping were all there. What this didn't mention though was that nearly everything required a per-minute fee that beyond the base monthly charge. Always was under stress using the service since I couldn't afford a large bill and with the slow speeds back then you'd have to wait and wait for everything to trickle through. You could easily get a bill for over $100 month and that was in 1980s money.

I remember I was like 8 or 10 seeing this in the computer magazines wishing I could get online to play on it but my parents wouldn't spend money like that. Whats crazy is I was already on regular BBSes on my dad's PS/2 (which at 8 years old in 1986 was crazy to even consider that nobody realized they're online with an 8 year old when everybody else was probably 20-30 years old then).
