One of the things I like about quarter comma meantone with more than 12 notes per octave is the 128/125 interval, which is slightly less than half a conventional semitone.

Did you coin the term “Puppy Fifth”? Wanna make sure I credit you appropriately when I use it in the future
@SocraticSwansongsАй бұрын
Hahaha not sure if I made it up, if it came to me in a dream or if I heard it a long time ago… like quarter comma mean tone, it’s exact invention is not definitely known. I’ll take credit until someone claims it

Could you please tell what sort of vst are you using in the demonstration? Is it modeling all of those microtonal deviations that you're playing?

I’m using pianoteq for all the piano which give the circle diagram of the tuning. The art of the fugue is all logic instruments tuned using the logic global tuning

At about 5:17, it's four fifths, you stack, not five.

Thanks for your helpful and warm spirited feedback ! Like the puppy fifth, I’m a little out of tune 🐶

You are wrong. The wolf fifth of quarter comma meantone is much further out of tune than the wolf fifth of Pythagorean intonation.

@@MabInstrumentsI never said that! I said that the Pythagorean third is out of tune… the wolf fifth in both Pythagorean and quarter mean are to be avoided unless artistically desirable

What you mean, apparently, is tempering the fifths that absolutely and definitely are not wolf fifths, into fifths that also are not wolf fifths, but are slightly off.
@MabInstrumentsАй бұрын
@@SocraticSwansongs, you say "it does so by tempering its wolf fifths". That is not what happens. It is not the wolf fifth that is tempered.
