Appreciate the video Coach! I used to think Sail was a stupid play; the way I’ve seen it drawn up. But seeing the videos of it, I think I might want it as one of my main Cov 3 beaters!

Great concept. Mix it with trips smash and snag and you can attack most coverages.

Isn't this sail route the play the San Francisco 49ers ran again and again when they were winning Super Bowls with Joe Montana and Jerry Rice? Jerry was often the receiver coming across the middle and he usually had a lot of space to run into after the catch. None of the defenses of the day seemed to have an answer for that play.

I think the play you're thinking of is flanker drive. It was a staple in the 9er offense.
