Zombies counting as a placement in tourneys is still an absolutely absurd rule imo. It often leads to situations just like this, where there is a stronger and weaker player, and the weaker player is left up to the stronger player’s mercy

It depends right. They have no SABR so they could just not be a tournament player. I remember when I came back to playing tournament risk I forgot that zombies blocked placement and you could give 2nd, and that's from someone who used to do nothing but fill in for empty slots in tournaments in the early risk days. If you weren't used to that, I could see it being a thing.

Wow. You handled that loss so well. There is so much pain from losing so and rage at what felt like a pointless and petty betrayal, all following a string of bad luck with red setting on three and you not setting on four. And you just shrug, take accountability for your choices that allowed for that possibility, and even stood up for the guy before posting the video. Inspirational strength of character and maturity. You could've gain bonuses and eliminate the zombies while still conceding the win on your terms. It's heartbreaking for your followers to see you out of an important tournament like that. It's possible. If someone does that and is honest I will always respect the truth. In this case I do believe him that he misunderstood. He seemed to genuinely feel bad about the misunderstanding, and he likely didn't know that those 2 points meant everything to me (since the scoreboard was hidden)

In my opinion it now doesn't matter if pink did it on purpose or not. If he did it on purpose you can't trust him. If he misunderstood you can't trust he will understand next time. Either way he is untrustworthy and I doubt anyone will dare to cooperate with him in upcoming games.

It's always been the way in all the points structure tournaments forever. The zombies server tournaments must be different (I've never played in those ones).

Damn that infection was crazy! We didn’t fortunately have an infection in our game. That pink decision was crazy but maybe just wanted to guarantee the win who knows but the card skipping was an obvious sign of your intention of giving up, hopefully semis are better for you with the spot becoming available

Yeah, I was probably 50/50 maybe even higher to win the 1v1. But I was 100% to qualify if he killed the zombies first, so I took the 100% route.. which led to him killing me before the zombies lol. But it looks like I will be playing the Semis anyways... and I might even be in his group lol

@@Kylted yeah totally get the play as you explained in the video. Another thing you said and that is very based is that you left your fate in someone else’s hands. I think you went with the right play considering the conditions at the time. I just happen to like your “win or go home” attitude which of course can change when your tournament life is on the line… essentially winning equates to advancing to the next stage of the tourney. I don’t know if pink needed the extra points for his own tourney but if he didn’t he should have given you second. In the end, no set on four into a dude trade on 5 was expected for you but disheartening nonetheless. Enjoy Europe man, well earned!

There is the chance that pink misunderstood but the fact that you signal attack green, attack me heart several times and he gave you thumbs up and hearts then it is more likely that he knew what he was doing... Maybe the most confusing part was you reducing your troops to make his kill easier.. You could have waited longer to do that when he was almost done with the zombies

That was playing to win. Maximizing odds to advance to the next round is playing to win the tournament, more than playing to win an individual game. Unfortunately that's how the tournament structure works. In any other scenario I play to win the game

Just watched it. || Spoiler alert || Zombie got the 2nd point placement actually horrendous. You probably knew how crucial points were, like why would they decided to go that way? In the end Zombie got either 2nd or 3rd in every Zombie Outbreak matches before and so on.... Crazy. They're need evaluate the point system on zombie match, to make it fair play and good game. And first trade send dudes? 😂 Not casual mode, tourney mode you got dudes. I think that's your default passive skill cards "Send Dudes."

Rough man, but after seeing what happened in that spud zombies game a while back, if i wasnt 100% confident in being able to handle the zombies+ kill you, id probably play it safe and kill you too. Though on fixed cards, i think i would have let you live AT Least a while more. if you keep killing off your troops and emoting that youre working with me, then ya no issue.

In ranked play there’s no reason to give a human player 2nd since the zombies don’t count. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just say that zombies don’t count for placement in a tournament game, especially given the “survive 3 turns” rule which means you don’t even have to kill the zombies to get first. Also given the fact that *some* content creators (not naming names, but we all know) are more than willing to backstab someone in that position if they make a mistake, my position is-don’t give anyone 2nd. It’s taking too big a risk, takes too much time, and is an issue of tournament rule design.

I think the rules should be adjusted going forward that zombies don't count. In fair competition, being at the whim of some players who do give it and some that don't takes away from it.

It’s weird to place zombies anyway. You and 18th place got 2nd in your games. To give him 2 points because you played an asshole and he played a nice guy is just stupid. What does it add to the game? Other than obvious controversy. It just wastes time for the winner to have to kill zombies first.

I wanted to apologize one last time (publicly) for the poor play there on account of not yet mastering all of the intricacies of Risk etiquette, and to say that I'm really happy you'll be joining us for the semis and likely the finals as well. Thanks a ton for adding that piece at the end of the video as well - you definitely didn't have to defend me, but the clarification does mean a lot to me, even if a number of people still hold on to their gut reaction to the play that I made.
