It's been advertised that two other stand-alone games in this series, called "Med Front" and "West Front" (i.e., Mediterranean Sea and Western Europe) will be published as well, and then the 3 maps can be combined for a mega-game.

A grand review Alex. I'd certainly endorse the game too from my perspective (as a non-board gamer). It was easy to pick up and play.

Cheers Dex, yeah, there's a lot to like in it and it's a good entry level game to boot.

Sounds very good indeed. Not only because of the player count (2 not prefered with 4+) but with starting extra cards no risk for a gamedeciding first draw... The seperation of Early/Mid/Late cards really guarentees it is not all the Soviet buildup early or no German naval action later. I get this is Mid/Late but for the Quartermaster system :) EDIT: As the cards are Mid and late I assuem there will be early cards in some version?

I haven't played this yet, but based purely on this description it sounds a lot like Twilight Struggle in a way, would you say that's fair? Obviously a very different setting and it sounds like the strict mechanisms are different: e.g. you're deploying tanks rather than placing influence, but points of similarity sounded like: - CDG - You're using cards both for effects but also simply to move things around and take generic actions - The cards mirror historical events and flavour - The game naturally plays out along historic lines, but it's not inevitable - You're tracking VPs, and if anyone opens up a big enough lead then it's autovictory - Typically one side may open up a lead, but the other side definitely has the opportunity to pull it back I don't know, maybe I'm stretching the comparison, but that's what was striking me as I watched the video!

I honestly couldn't say as I've not played TS

Thanks for this vid Alex, this sounds a really fun game with some interesting mechanisms - QMG as you say really is best played as a six-hander (which isn’t always easily possible) so this working well as a two player is a real advantage.

Cheers James, yeah Cold War went someway towards reducing the number of players, but this really goes the extra mile for two players.

The Peloponnesian War game (Victory or Death) was designed for 4, but in my experience also works well with 2. It does however have face down ("prepared") cards, which as Alex said in the video are harder to remember when you're playing more than 1 side.

Great review sir!! I've really enjoyed the Quartermaster games I've played, what band was that on your top though? I try to listen to your band on a Sunday as we have similar tastes...but I don't recognise that one 👍

Nice review, the game looks interesting. Maybe you've not played enough, but how historically railroaded do you think the game is? Do the cards kind of dictate that Germans will push and Soviets will recover or is there more of a sandbox feel? Also looking forward to more Rommel videos, it was your 'how to play' videos for it that lead me to finding your channel.

Thanks, we played again the other week and I was getting cards that were useful later early on and cards that were useful earlier later, so it's not as programmed as you think it could be. There are a lot of cards in each deck so the probabilities of pulling the same cards like in the earlier versions of the game are far less. I don't think it's a game that you could play over and over again in a sort time, but certainly one to keep going back to every so often.

Good review 😊 This game looks great. I own the WW2 version. Fantastic game. Please could someone explain the straits rule, as this causes problems with my gaming group. I think that I myself am over complicating it, when the rule is straight forward. Cheers.

Thanks, check out my QMG how to play video, I think I explain straits in there.

As it is mainly card driven, can you play it solo?
@StormofSteelWargaming Жыл бұрын
Not really, it requires the players not being aware of what their opponent is holding in their cards.
