@@Marius1988Roma They probably usually rehearse alone without the guest soloists they may invite, mostly because the only part where guests play is the improv solo sections. In this case because Jacob sat in with them for the rest of the song, I imagine they did rehearse with him, but most of their other guests have literally just "jumped in." Chris Potter has some pretty obvious giveaway moments on video where he clearly doesn't know the song form but figures it out live in a couple seconds. Happens in both Lingus (Cheltenham jazz fest 2017) and Shofukan (GroundUP music festival 2020). Also seems the same way when they invite Hamilton de Holanda on Lingus, who appears to know the song from popularity but not have any experience actually performing it. He also adapts to all the details very quickly though since they're all pros

Jacob, this is what I meant by performing with musicians that push you, instead of the other way around. People said the same thing about Sax until it found it's place in Jazz.... Try listen to some Augustus Pablo on melodica and you will probably change your mind :)
