It is a bit weird that the guy whos head of a developer team for an international game, doesn't take the time to learn to atleast understand english. Im fairly certain their biggest community is not japanese. Or if he doesn't learn the language, hire a dude to take the feedback from these youtube videos & other sources & translate it. Instead expecting their fans to translate it for him. If there is an auto translate or something using google translate (could work?). Tho i've been to Japan myself & im pretty sure it's a country wide thing to stay the fuck away from learning english. On an airport? Ye they know a bit, anywhere else, they don't know shit about english. Even the employees on trainstations doesn't know english.

I'm not convinced anti-cheat as we know it is worth it. They always cause other problems, such as lag or instability. That said, anyone who's caught utilizing cheats deserve to be permanently banned from the game.

Same. I don't want this stuff running on my PC either. This invariably happens with PvP in MMOs which is why I'm not a fan of MMO PvP. It sucks up dev time trying to find solutions to cheating, or installs stuff on our PCs we don't want. Manually banning people is an ok solution - except I'd rather they were spending their time doing something else.

Anti-cheat would also 100% get rid of xivalexander and noclippy, the plugins that make the game playable for people in south america and other regions with 150+ ping. (it's literally impossible to play something like machinist or ninja well in PvE without these plugins, since you can't even single weave with no clipping without perfect timing).

Some of the features of the free plugins you can find in semi public repositories are auto guarding if targeted by an LB, auto pulling/stunning/ccing when enemies in area use a defined spell, using noclippy/no anim lock recupurate in between actions if hp is below a threshold, auto joining a set discord channel for others using same plugin, plus there's some ACT plugins that show enemy CDs, your party's target frames (with a bindable swap to target macro), plus there's the regular client hacks like speed hacking, status immunity, ect that have been in the game forever and nothing is ever done about. None of this is new, this has been around since beginning of The Feast, pvp just wasn't popular enough before for people that didn''t pvp to care about. An easy short term solution would be adding a right click Report For Cheating to the UI in the same way you can for RMT, this would allow the Special Teams to spectate a reported player, actual logs showing a player interrupts/ccs/whatever everytime in under 50ms is alot more damning than a video.

The issue with these cheaters is that they're making appearance mods which use plugins a collateral target if Yoshi goes nuclear on this. We can only hope he uses a scalpel instead of a hammer.

If you really want to improve the chances of the dev team seeing this, I highly suggest adding jaoanese subtitles/cc. I'm not into pvp myself, but I hate cheaters even more.

You know what they should do? Put some sort of unrealistic reward or achievement in the game. This could flag players who have that specific achievement for cheating. For example "Polymorph a player within .01 seconds of them using Limit Break 5 times in one match" or something that tracks over multiple consecutive matches. Something ridiculous that only the cheats could accomplish. Once they earn that achievement - send the Ban Hammer.

They should add those "achievements" without telling the players and can only be viewed by the devs. That way the cheaters won't be the wiser and change parameters to bypass dectection.

Anticheat will ALSO get rid of all of us who play on Linux. Especially with the Steam Deck being a thing I dont think they will want to put in an anticheat anyway. I feel like the plugin makers will have to step up the game and flat out block all plugins in pvp with their software. Sure, someone can modify it but to write a plugin is much easier than to always keep the launcher up to date with the "anti cheat" disabled.

Proton, the layer Valve uses to help Windows titles run on Linux and the Steam Deck, has anticheat support, but it's implemented on a case-by-case basis, which means Linux players might be out of the picture for months if introduced. The worst part would be anticheat reporting false positives with innocent UI mods and shaders, as anticheats look for modified game files, and the anticheat may also be incredibly intrusive, looking for software running in the background, which I loathe. We need to solve this without introducing anticheats.

​@@vilcsith The thing with anticheat support is you have to have it enabled by the devs. I played Elden Ring, devs enabled it and works pretty well on my Linux machine. But there's games like Lost Ark that could just work but guess what? They dont have it enabled. Destiny 2 is another example where the game would def. would if it weren't for the devs being stubborn(in destiny's case the devs outright said so). Also would suck for us peeps who have the game standalone. I was warned to get it from Steam cuz of the options of sales from elsewhere so now I'd be really boned if you were forced to only run it through steam.

this needs to be addressed fast. People are grinding both CC and frontlines because of Garo event, so if they will not fix that now, people will lose all of their interest after the event will be over, since it will be frustrating to face cheaters

The enjoyment is from the achievements, mounts, gear, titles, the chest thumping of "look at my stats", and the tears of the people the cheaters are f@cking over. Squeenix should fix the problem, as well as perm ban all the cheaters. There is no reason at all to use any form of cheating in an MMO. There should also be no mercy shown, to discourage others from even thinking about it.

@@flipnskater historically, FFXIV's dev team has been pretty good at cracking down on such issues. There's a reason why it's not rampant in most other parts of the game. Yes, it still exists, but if like me, you've played lots of the other mainstream MMOs, you'll quickly realize how stringent FFXIV is compared to others. As for the ban hammer, FFXIV ban hammer comes down harder and faster than any other games in the market as well.

I legit encountered something like this on Day 3. a whm kept using poly on my warrior everytime I try to stun or perform LB. Also encoutered auto poly on DRG LB causing me to lose LB charge. and its clockwork. like 5 out of 5 tries. i chalked it up to a skilled player but now that this has come to light, those people could have been cheating.

really annoying that they can Guard before you stun, as a PLD main I only have 1 stun and it bothers the heck out of me when they can perfectly timed their guard when I get close. Also those chain CC that are so coordinated that it can wipe your party in 1 go is annoying as hell. I really hope they just ban theose people straight up or just remove add-ons all together.

If you're a drg you can lb out of LoS and then fly over to the location you're gonna land on. You can also Lb out of range of others too.

There's a significant limit to what they are willing to do client-side. If an add-on is simply analyzing the data given to the client by the server (e.g., health, range, cooldowns), I doubt there's a lot they can do to stop an add-on from effective executing a conditional macro. I play on PS5, which is the pure vanilla experience, and it's a bummer that there are people who care more about winning than sustaining a viable community. I'm still having a blast in CC, and I hope that the community does a good job policing itself.

1:02 this goes back decades and is in all games. It isn't about the joy. It's about the win at all costs. Even going back as far as Dark Age of Camelot (yep, just dated myself) cheats were common. It was a little harder to do back then but they still existed. Given that, cheaters/modders are the reason why PvP dies in most MMOs. It causes players to stop enjoying the gameplay. I hope the FF14 team is able to fix the issue though I don't know how to do it without them taking a very hard stance against mods as a whole. Anti-cheat programs are bad. I've quit playing games that use them because of the effects they've caused to my computer.

I know theybhave so ways of detecting mods, but I'm unsure how good it is. What I would suggest is showing a strong stance against cheating mods by making its discovery a straight up permanent ban. This will help prevent it from being as much of an issue as the risk factor suddenly leaps to extremely high levels for the cheater.

I really hope something gets done soon. I just made it to gold rank (console player fyi) and I've noticed a huge jump in "suspicious" situations in almost every game I've been in so far. Getting cc'd the literal second I press my LB, constantly getting chained stunned to the point where I just can't do anything except die. I could keep going but im sure the point is clear. And the thing that is the most depressing for me, is nothing will be done about it. It's because of cheaters like this why I stopped doing pvp in pretty much every game a few years ago. We live in the unfortunate time where pvp is about hacks and cheats, rather then actual skill and dedication. Which sucks because I love pvp, I'm a very competitive person and pvp gives me that rush that pve can't.

It really depends on when you get cc'd during your LB if it's happening a second or 2 after you pop it then probably not but if it's a situation where quite literally the second the LB is pressed you get hit with a crowd control I'm talking .1 .2 seconds after then more then likely a cheater especially if you're not being targeted in the first place (running into the group at full health and not being hit)

I play as sage and recently noticed that when I'm casting Pneuma or LB, the opposing white mages would instantly polymorph me right before the cast bar finished. This has happened to me twice in one single match and I had no idea how until I saw this video today

I highly doubt you've run into more than 1 or 2 of these players, and instead just run into situations where your lb was so clear that they could counter you easily. Knowing that one of the cheats is an auto target mch lb sucks for a player like me who combos wildfire explosion + drill + mch lb for insta kills because I'm just good at pvp games, I guarantee that someone thinks I'm suspicious for that reason, when in fact it's just a simple combo that you can los once you see me pop wildfire on you and then completely negate my lb. So far in my 100 or so games, I've only run into one genuinely suspicious player, and it was a whm who was very clearly saving poly exclusively for lbs and managed to have frame perfect polys. It was still easy enough to counter, cheaters aren't immortal after all, but he also was avoiding targeting the majority of his gameplay, probably so the add ons wouldn't accidentally be ruined. If someone spots you running into a crowd of 5 players completely alone as a drg or something, it's clear as day that you're about to lb. Sometimes you have to just be more cunning. Also, take it from someone who comes from esports - don't use cheats as a self deterrent. Even in the worst of games they're still rare, so trust that the majority of your gameplay is gonna be cheat free, because it definitely will be.

I've been playing pvp for a year, and people use this on frontline too. There's a cheat that people pay 6$ a month that offers this > Some examples of suspicious activity to watch out for in your games: -Moving consistently faster than normal. (Speedhacking) -Moving in place or not moving at all after being hit by knockbacks, draw-ins, or other kinds of forced movement effects. -Being unaffected by movement stopping effects like sleep, stun, bind, holmgang, and attunement. -Canceling the animation lock of abilities such as limit breaks and assassinate. -Using GCDs faster than normally possible and/or triple weaving. (GCD hacking) -Stun/silencing enemy players to prevent limit breaks faster than humanly possible with perfect accuracy. This almost made me stop playing the game when i discovered, but i dont care anymore cause i also discovered that this exist on the game for so long and SE does nothing, people use even worse hack on PVE. Reporting those people doesnt help cause, im on a pvp discord that everyone reported a person(with video) that was walking fast while stunned/binded, and she's still playing the game. Im not saying this cause im crying, i already have 4 characters on crystal rank with less than 60 wins, i just don't care about those stupid hackers cause i know they wont get banned.

As a person who used to farm CC until Crystal every season, I gave up playing PvP. I play Bard, and I'm sick of people using Auto-Guard on my Silent Nocturne negating my burst window. EVERY game there's at least 3 cheaters on the enemy team. It's sickening.

Was 1 star away from Diamond and fell all the way back down to Platinum 4 because of a PLD and MNK scripting/botting. You'd think they were the best Paladin in the game with how perfectly they played every time. They certainly helped screw me over because I PLAY PVP THE RIGHT WAY

It's not just PVP, but Marketboard and Gathering bots are a thing as well. While trying to grind for the Pternadon mount in the Firmament / Diadem, I ran across so many gathering bots and reported every one of them. Crafting bots can calculate expert crafting (also for Pternadon mount). You'll also find bots gathering the most recent sands for crafting. Their wares then dilute the MB. MB bots can detect if they've been undercut and reduce their own prices to a set threshold. In the end, maybe cheaper materials for buyers, but makes trying to compete more difficult (not impossible).

I have had several instances where even though we would be losing I was fully ready with a LB and Frazzle and it’s like it literally did nothing to the team they healed almost instantly. Also some crazy deaths that were literally looking away from my health for 2 seconds after I just spawned threw an attack and died (some of these might be just because I suck somewhat lol but still 😞) I completely agree with you! This is part of the danger of these types of videos. Cheaters exist for sure, but all these terrible players come out with an excuse, oh it must be cheaters and hackers beating me every game. No. You are just bad at the game. Most of the time you lost because of inexperience. You can fix that with practice and just playing the game more.

This is how we lose plugins completely. Because little kids that can't handle seeing people that are better than they are, people like me with a plugin that makes it easier to spot other members of my FC in a crowded area and nothing else get hit. Unfortunately, manual bans just take up far too many man hours to be a viable solution.

Especially since they also will get a ton of false flag reports of people who are SO SURE the enemy is cheating when it's just a skilled player reading their clearly telegraphed plans. If we're lucky, maybe 1 or 2 out of every 100 reports will actually be a cheater or have anything actionable. "Just ban then" is not nearly as easy of a solution as people think it is.

I disagree with the adding an anti cheat or removal of addons to the game cuz a lot of harmless mods would likely get hit by proxy. A lot of them are accessibility things too. I think a better way to discourage cheating would just be manual moderation and a strict crackdown and perma ban for cheaters. If they actually crack down on them with real consequences, even if it doesn't completely 100% eliminate the problem, it'll reduce the impact and amount of cheaters you'll see by a lot if they make it not worth their time and effort to cheat.

Wonder if for PvP they can disable broadcast of users' status or make it invisible to other players in system chat .. if that happens add-ons will have a difficult time, if not impossible to read other users' actions and status.

But that would also affect non-cheat PVP, Seeing enemies Status and casts affect your actions, when to use CC to prevent LB or chain stunning, using guard to prevent heavy damage, etc. that would kill almost all counterplay PVP has and would just become a shitshow since saving CC does not matter if you dont know what enemy is doing

@@mojoman69 Maybe some of the things you could change like you said, but the biggest and most popular ones that i have heard of are the "Auto LB" plugins, like having plugin for Ninja LB that shows enemies below 50% hp and auto targeting them with LB, same with MCH etc. and having insta CC for some LB:s, like WHM plugin that polymorphs WAR instantly when they use LB

That explains why some people just refuse to die or take any damage sometimes thought it's strange to see a Samurai tank the whole team for longer than any tank can... also the accurate LB sniping without fail from some people to finish you the second you drop low enough.

There's no client side authorisation on hp. You're probably attacking a Sam who's buffed by a brd. Brds can buff their tms with damage resistance, and I believe pld can do something similar, and sge can target shield team mates.

I have never done PvP in FF and was going to give it a try, but there is always a sweet spot in any PvP for any game to try it. At a certain point in all games players new to a map will be at a disadvantage because of macros, botting, etc.

SQ just needs to be firms and issue bans IMMEDIATELY, 7 day min. 1st time and permanent 2nd time, this will deter others from cheating as they know they will get ban, its why you don't see many people sh*&t talk others in chat cuz they know they will get ban if reported.

Their problem is that they dont know who is cheating tho, they don't have anti-cheat or anything that checks your PC programs and they don't have budjet or manpower to manually watch matches, that is literally the whole problem, they don't want to ban plugins cuz there is some really helpful ones that allow mentally disabled players to play and overall make the experience more enjoyable, also it would cause such an uproar that maybe like 50% of players would quit, plugins are really important to some players and would probably just quit since playing without plugins is pretty awful and having a cheatless PVP is not worth it, i love my plugins myself and i like the PVP, but i rather have my plugins that allow me to enjoy everything in the game, rather than have 1 aspect of the game better but ruin literally everything else for me atleast

Its basically a war of attrition. FFXIV does more or less weekly ban waves, so if the playerbase gets very aggro on reporting cheating then they will get nuked. That wont eliminate the cheaters permanently but that is the case for every game.

Gshade was already blessed since similar feature in Nvidia do a similar thing but the FFXIV launcher that supports addons like bubble chat would be caught in the cross fire if addons get out of control.

Other games have had systems that worked fairly well when people who are reported enough for cheating are only queued with other cheaters. Don't ban them outright just allow them to believe they are getting away with it. Then at the end of the season just dont give them their "rank" reward.

I was at Diamond 1 close to crystal and drop back to Diamond 5 and can not progress anymore after I notice players who are stunning you at a precise time or sleeping, / silence you to pull off any big move. Unfortunately, reporting pvp cheating to SE has barely worked in the last 5 years ever since Feast started in this game. People presented full video footage to the game support, even showing cheaters who streamed with 3rd party program to gain advantages. Majority of these cheaters have never got the punishment they deserve. One of the reasons is lack of pvp knowledge among GM. They don’t have enough experience or knowledge to judge whether these behaviors are under cheating or now, even if you present full explanation.

There's also another drastic solution that none of you will entertain: Remove prestigious rewards from PvP. No decoration trophies. No timed exclusive weapon glamours. No timed exclusive armor glamours. No prestigious tittles. No prestigious mounts. Cheaters cheat because the possible reward is worth the risk. If there's no worthwhile reward then there's no motivation to cheat. PvP needs to become like a hide and seek children game. No stakes, no reason to try hard.

Anti cheat would be large ramifications for other players outside of pvp, particularly those who use 3rd party tools for their own enjoyment. The modding community takes the don't ask don't tell relationship with the game and 3rd party tools very seriously, and have rallied hard against people who threatened that balance. A lot of content creators you may even love do use these tools to even be able to create the content that they do. Its not a solution i think people will like for these reasons either.

I don't think XIV will implement anti-cheat simply because I don't think they are game enough to do so. They would sooner let PvP fall to hackers than alter the game so fundamentally. That said, if they DO ever implement something, addon users really have no leg to stand on here. 3rd party tools have always been used with full knowledge that it's against ToS. The lenience shown up until now is not implicit approval. The day that everyone using addons gets banned could come at any time, and the people who choose to use them do so knowing and accepting that risk.

I know more than a few people who would outright dump the game were that to happen, or for certain enjoy it far less. It facilitates accessibility, content creation, roleplaying tools, quality of life. There WILL be a pushback of a kind if anticheat is ever considered, considering how quickly they jumped on the modder asmongold interviewed by having them potentially put a spotlight on mods.

I don't think yoshi p is willing to throw so many players under the bus with such a nuclear option, the intrusive nature of an anticheat alone would be reason enough for people to halt their subs. I think the only way to keep people from cheating is doing what epic games did early on when Fortnite blew up. Sue a 14 year old for 250.000 $. Is it questionable? Yes! Which is exactly why it got the media attention it got, everyone knew about it. Legit players felt satisfied while cheater and posible cheaters were scared off. Losing your account hurts, but seeing that the devs are willing to take you, the individual to court over it and ruining your life, that is something that really scares people away from cheats. Did that lawsuit lead anywhere? No ofcourse they eventually found a way to resolve it and dropped charges. But a lawsuit takes time and the entire time people that looked or googled for cheats got articles apon articles pushed into their face about a 250 000$ lawsuit. And thats all it needs to scare 99% of potential cheaters.

It's been a year since this video was posted. Last night I did a PvP grind to top off the "ranks" that were necessary for the glam. In "casual" matches, no less, I was hit through walls and/or from large distances away, and by melee jobs no less. For example, over the evening hours when I did the grind, monks that weren't even on screen knocked my character around with their knock back, a warrior kept hitting me until KO from around two corners, etc, and this was in addition to the type of stuff that's discussed in this video. I linked to this video in the quick post that I made about yesterday's experience, so I thought that I'd make another comment here as a sort of update. The situation hasn't improved at all. If anything the tools have likely grown more advanced.

There is an absolute shitload of cheaters on my data center. For example when I play RDM I get imped as soon as I press my LB. And even though it is an instant cast, I see the animation, but no damage goes out as appearently the bot cancels so fast, the server does not get the info damage has happened. It's disgusting. After three days over the weekend now I am at the point that I will just grind my garo wins and never touch PVP again.

well, time to get all addons barred from use thanks to pvp cheating. game will become actually unplayable for me as this game has horrid and outdated controls (like legacy movement rotating your camera when walking left and right + awful to no mouseover macro capability which introduces lag/delay). hopefully it won't be a collective punishment, but i don't see how else the devs can solve this problem. maybe some checks to ban you if you're using addons when entering pvp, but they'll probably just go with a blanket ban on all mods. i'd hate for the entire game being ruined (probably for many people), because some people can't refrain from cheating in one game mode.

Imagine if they added a spectator mode and matches could be reviewed, DotA and csgo have similar cheat detection by having players report their match IDs and then people in the community actually review the matches (overwatch) to help detect people who use script hacks, maybe they could do the same in FF and add some rewards for doing so. Helps funnel actual cases and fluff cases from angry opponents too.

You wont even be able to I could stream with them running and you wouldnt be able to tell mate. People can also do it in PvE while streaming and the bot presses all the buttons for you. You could put a fresh blind player into zodiark ex and have them be dorito and parse 99% with only using WASD

SE can create a way to track the ID of every PC/console that is playing the game and if someone is caught cheating they can ban the also PC/Console not only the SE account. I worked on a company that used this method to ban users

Add a quick report option for PvP cheaters like there is for RMT and let the community help with outing the cheaters, and hopefully in 7.0 with all the system upgrades we will get a sort of anti-cheat system specifically for code that includes skills or targeting functions

I'm a little worried about anti cheat potentially false flagging for stuff like plug-ins thar aren't harmful to the game. There are a lot of ui mods that are just there to help you keep track of stuff or that make it easier to sort through inventories and it would suck to lose them to an anticheat

Cheating in XIV in general is a topic that rarely has significant attention drawn to it and I feel more pronounced negativity surrounding the matter is the only thing that's likely to get them to start taking it more seriously, though it would need to be a massive blow-up akin to the level the recent housing debacle got if we wanted to see much change IMO. The last time they took any major action was straight-up blocking trial accounts from PvP because people were using a combination of mass-produced bots and teleport hacks to ruin frontlines and Rival Wings matches.

Just play it. It isn't the epidemic people are making it out to be. Just even skimming the comments here, a lot of anecdotes people have brought up as "proof" they caught someone cheating is stuff that I've literally watched pro players in similar PVP systems (WoW, GW2, SWToR) do manually as humans. It's like Fighting Games - those frame perfect combos and reads seem insane but humans are doing them. Will you run into some cheaters? Probably here and there. Every game? No. Every other game? Highly unlikely. Just understand that people can take some skills to absolutely near tic-perfect levels in these types of games, and it has been out long enough for people to start "smurfing" now too. To clarify: I am not one of those godlike players, but even I occasionally manage sub-second interrupts if I'm anticipating something. You can see if the enemy has their LB up. And you better believe when I'm on my White Mage and there's an enemy dragoon I got a focus target macro ready for that bad boy.

The insidious part is the more cheaters deprive people of fun, the more people will be lured to cheats to get their fun back. So by doing naught SE is actually encouraging the proliferation of cheats. So yes, expect that once the GARO event is gone that the PvP interest will pretty much flatten out.

I really think an overhaul of the reporting system would go a long way. Give players a report for cheating option that automatically blacklists the cheaters. In addition to that have the blacklist function the same way it does with roulettes and stop the blocked person from getting in matches with the people who blocked them, making it harder and harder for them to get a match until their report is reviewed and they get banned.

Punishing the cheaters is the easy part, but finding the cheaters is the hard part, that is the problem for every online game, ofc. devs try to ban the cheaters, but they can't find the cheaters, they dont have the resources or manpower to implement ways to find the cheaters, that is especially hard for FFXIV, since there is plugins that make the game way better for some players, Gshade/ACT etc. they don't want to outright ban all plugins, that would cause so many to probably quit the game since playing without plugins is hell for some players, the game can't detect what is a "good" plugin and what is a "bad" plugin, so that makes it way harder, the devs are already overwhelmed and some systems are balanced and kept up by like 5 people

@@ChandaniAranka as i mentioned, there are some very neat QoL plugins that just add diversity and dynamic to the game. This isnt a question of difficulty or making things easier, there are plugins as simple as adding dots to big numbers, having an Elden Ring compass on the ui cause well, its cool, an ingame notepad, and many more simple things. Over time, many also got added as basic features in the game, which is great. This isnt a hardcore subject with "IF you use them you cant play without them". You dont want to ban ALL movies bc of a few bad ones either do you?

Temporary blanket ban on add ons till they manage to develop the anti cheat detection. Worse case scenario is that g shade and marketboard add on usage is suspended for a few weeks. Annoying, but not something most people will unsubscribe or rage quit over.

I'm ok with the disabling the add-ons etc we already got punished with the in-fight waymarks being disabled because of a group in TEA using add-on on that, pretty much cheating, instead of banning or something, they made a punishment for all. in-fight waymarks were pretty good to explain or do callouts without a voice chat, and even position precisely a waymark for a mech, without a need of add-on\plugin which some people does.
