For me, this song has the simplicity and clarity of someone at peace with their own mortality.

Freddie wrote this song (the last song he ever wrote) about the place he loved to stay in Montreux, Switzerland on Lake Geneva. His statue was placed there after his passing. He wrote this and recorded most of it shortly before he died but the song was never finished until after Freddie's death. Brian knew how the song was to be completed and it took him a long time before he could face finishing it but he refused to allow anyone else to touch it because he said he knew exactly what Freddie wanted. Damn! you can hear the tears and heartache in Brian's guitar on this song. It is so beautiful but it also brings tears to my eyes every time. Thank you for this reaction. Is it even possible that you have never reacted to Queen: White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith, Christmas Eve 1975? I could not find it on your Queen playlist. That is the best live performance EVER. If you have not reacted to it yet, you really must, it is mind blowing. Freddie's voice is so beautiful and so emotive and the instrumental portion with Freddie and Brian (1 minute 45 seconds) is beyond believable. The whole band is so tight and on point. You will love it, I am certain.

Looking into Freddies soul and his appreciation for life. I love him so much- what an iconic genius- so very ill and on the verge of death- our Freddie- makes me weep💛

Last song Freddie ever wrote. He just wrote down what he saw and felt about it from his window in his apartment in Montreux. Beautiful song ❤❤❤ The guitar solo is by Brian. John is the bass player.

OMG - Now you’ve done it!! Freddie penned this beauty while looking out his window while appreciating the beauty & landscapes outside! Can you imagine?? The handwriting is all Freddie’s which makes this video super personal. Not a Xmas song but IMO should be played in every home across the globe. Happy Holidays EVERYONE!!🎄

He used to hate Montreux because it was too quiet. When he got sick he began to love it. It was a safe haven where he wasn’t bothered. The band came there to to record some of Innuendo. They were surprised that they were able to do another album after Miracle. They became very close and protective of Freddie

Amazingly beautiful song both lyrically & musically. And a window into Freddie’s state of mind. he could still see beauty all around him, but he also gives a hint beyond the beautiful imagery in the song…. “My world is spinning And spinning, and spinning It's unbelievable, sends me reeling Am I dreaming? Am I dreaming?”
@betseyclark28322 жыл бұрын
Freddie's last solo composition. His voice was still so strong. His will to still make music was immense. The video is a beautiful expression of what Freddie wanted to say. However, the fact that a title appeared over the video covering Freddies words in his own writing kind of spoiled that for me. Was that really necessary?

Thank you for this reaction! This was the last song Freddie wrote and he was very near the end. Yet he could still appreciate the beauty around him. My favorite thing about Freddie was that he was a beautiful person both on the outside and on the inside.

The small bungalow was named The Duck House- Freddie’s swans were there also- just a magical place for Freddie Mercury. Freddie had such freedom and peace. Freddie wrote this song on little scraps of paper. He was so very ill. Coming to the end of his beautiful life. And yes Pat- you are right- but honey- you are never be late to love and appreciate Freddie. Freddie will give you hope for your life and future- he told us never to give up on life. God bless and keep him-💛💛💛

The huge note he delivers in this song was a real surprise, given how sick he was by the time he recorded it. The way they strip away all the other instruments to just isolate that note was incredible and shows the respect and reverence that the band had for Freddie's talent and his commitment to giving his all on these last recordings knowing he would not live to see them be released.

Great reaction friend. This was such a beautiful song written by Freddie as his last one to write. The writing throughout the video of the lyrics was in fact Freddie’s actual handwriting. Can you imagine writing and performing such a beautiful, tender song while you are facing your imminent death and still have it be such an amazing, uplifting piece? Freddie was already on his way and knew it and still managed to see the beauty all around him. His voice was as always absolutely flawless and powerful. There was absolutely no sadness or dread or regret in his voice. What a strong, courageous beautiful soul. What a final gift to all of his fans. RIP sweet Freddie. You are so missed.😢♥️

Freddie wrote this in the last few months of his life from what he saw from his flat in Montreux and all the writing you can see is Freddie notes, as far as I know the remaining Queen members put the video together, I'm not sure when it was officially released, but he recorded it only a couple of months before he passed away, I think he came back to the UK around July 91 but kept working on songs until a couple of weeks before he stopped his treatment, as his eyesight started fading so he stopped everything apart from the pain medication

Really? You know. I’ve convinced that Queen is the greatest band of all time. Just because there music is bigger than just being a hit song. They actually write songs that people really can relate to and cherish anytime. That harmony was divine. Never know what to expect with Queen. I’m playing it right now at work and loving it even more. 💯🙌🏿. Thanks for that background. Freddie was a great person. ❤️

this was Freddies last song that he wrote and recorded in 91 but it wasn't released until 95 it was no 6 uk but for some reason they didn't include it on their greatest hits 3 album which makes no sense and seems disrespectful to me I also think they should have included Bo Rap as it was no 1 again in 91 after Freddie's death, technically their first and last no 1

Freddie actually wrote this song from his hospital bed when he was dying🥲🥲 the voice, the voice so beautiful right up till the end. I suggest you do a little research on these songs, it gives you so more prospective. It will only make you fall in love with Queen even more. Please look for You Take My Breath Away (the official video) if you truly want to hear the most angelic voices. I miss Freddie everyday and I need to hear him sing everyday, because there will never be another Freddie Mercury, the emotion in which he sings just captures your soul RIP SWEETHEART SO SADLY MISSED.🥲

Love your Queen reviews Pat - it warms my heart how you appreciate them. I was way late in learning their catalog and now I’m obsessed. My request would be Sail Away Sweet Sister. It’s A Brian song that haunts me. I’m sure no one else will review it but it’s beautiful. The best part is John’s bass at the end. Enjoy!

There is a little lyrical clue in there............near the end......it sends me reeling............about three lines......the song means so much because Freddie was losing his eyesight but he chose to write about the beauty he could still see. What a brave, gracious and loving soul he truly was.....
