Many cover bands (which Queen + Adam Lambert are not, by the way) sadly make this mistake: they often present 'sort of a caricature' of Freddie Mercury on stage, trying to look and move like his 1980s persona. These imitation Freddies attempt to emulate his natural movements, but what came naturally to Freddie always looks fake when performed by others. In contrast, Adam Lambert brings his own flamboyant style. I hope Brian and Roger will hang on long enough so I can see them perform (with Adam) once more in the near future.

The fans have the right to say something -(that's who!) While most fans don't mind sharing our icons with a new generation,we feel that its a pity that they will never know the unique experience of live performances of the original group! Those of us who have seen the original Queen have every right to cherish & share our opinion about today's group! Roger & Brian would be the first to agree!After all, if not for the fans ,most groups would not enjoy the celebrated fame they enjoy today! This does not negate the fact that Adam Lambert is terrific in his own right! It is important for the "new generation"to learn the importance of cherishing the past & tradition,while enjoying today's new form of the band as well! Without acknowledgement of the past there can be no true understanding of the characteristics of the present & future ! The simple fact is that as time marches on, the generations of today will want their icons to be acknowledged in the future, as well!, I do believe that while Brian & Roger are happy working with Adam Lambert, they know that the opinions of the fans are important because without the fans, they would not be where they are!
@tamelajones22495 жыл бұрын
@@francinelima5963 I am in total agreement about understanding and appreciating Queen. If there is no past, there can't be no future. No shade towards any Queen fan past or present. I have loved Queen since I was a child! I wasn't talking about the past, as Queen's legacy lives in the hearts and minds of the fans. I was talking about a simply acknowledgement that this where they are now. It is very apparent that Queen works hard to preserve the bands legacy, but they were very successful to bring in Adam, which help bring in a whole new generation of Queen fans! While Adam is no Freddie, he can handle his spot as Adam, not a Freddie substitute. Just Adam! That is what I was talking about.

Thanks for replying, Well said! I simply meant that the happiness of the band is important, but, the fans count too!Actually I was just responding to your statement about who has the right to say anything! (of course, the fans do!) I do believe he is aware that no one can replace our dear Freddie ,who would agree that Adam Lambert is certainly talented enough to perform with Queen & on his own! His tribute to Freddie is outstanding! I agree with your reply 100 per cent ! But, after marveling that he’s been performing with Queen for nine years he said, “I’m just like you: I’m a fan. He’s irreplaceable.” And yet, there he was, an incredible combination of insane vocal power and control and absolute rock star charisma. He has the sense of pomp and kitch and swagger as well as the vocal chops to fill in for Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest frontmen of all time (some might argue that he was the greatest).But from the moment the band took the stage, Lambert owned it; like Mercury, he’s able to front the band through hard rock jams like “Now I’m Here,” “The Show Must Go On,” “I Want It All” and “Tie Your Mother Down,” while also commanding the ballads like “Who Wants To Live Forever” and “Somebody To Love.” But humor was such an important part of Freddie Mercury, and Lambert gets it: when he sings “Bicycle Race” while reclining on a rotating motorcycle, when he fans himself while singing “Killer Queen” or dons a crown for “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions,” you realize that he’s having as much fun with the gig as Freddie did. And it’s really difficult to imagine anyone else fronting the band at this point. (101 WRIF)

OH MY WORD!!!!! THANK YOU Adam Lambert for your amazing voice that has allowed Freddie Mercury and Queens amazing music to be enjoyed by the World again. We know one can ever replace Freddie but it takes a very special talent (singer, performer and artist!) to showcase Freddie Mercury/Queens music live to be enjoyed by generations of people who never lived through Freddies time on this earth. PS....watching you perform with Queen in London on New Year's was a moment I will never forget. It was magical. Also loved your rendition of Cher's song, Believe'.
