Came to this late as it simply came up in my feed. I actually made the original headpieces pieces for the movie. They were silicon moulds taken from sculpted clay with various pieces of lace spray mounted and lacquered down to them. The moulds were then electroformed in copper and gilded as parts and then assembled together with pieces of electro plated abs with further lace overlaid to them. Essentially the way you made yours was just a simplified version of how the real thing was put together. Hope that helps clarify the process for you.

Yay I'm glad! I am actually really happy with how the headdress turned out and held up but I probably would change out using gold foil, and use a textured gold fabric instead. Just to make it look more expensive!
