I appreciate this episode and George's backstory. He is only trying in his way to protect Charlotte. The doctor is shady. I think he is on a power trip. Whatever his methods are calling the king "Boy" was uncalled for. I think the doctor knew telling him that Charlotte was with child so suddenly like that would cause anxiety and that triggers his condition. Truly taking advantage of the kings illness for power, living in the castle in private quarters, everyone under his control, if he controls the king, he controls England. . I wish I had found you when I watched Bridgerton would have loved to hear your insight on that season. 💗

Back when King George lived they never knew what he had... But in modern day we can look back on documents from the time that showcases set of symptoms similar to bipolar 1 or potentially porphyria which is a rare blood disorder that can cause neurological issues and body pain and hallucinations and can outwardly present symptoms that look like mental illnesses. And so for years there's been debates over whether he had bipolar disorder with psychotic symptoms or porphyria... But then in 2013 of bunch of his personal journals were released for public access... And so a lot of historians now seem to solidly be on the side of bipolar 1 with psychotic symptoms being more likely than Porphyria. And the actor who played King George in this show said that when he was portraying the symptoms that the king experienced he was using a specific diagnosis in his head because he wanted to be able to portray a specific disorder respectfully and accurately even if the show never dignoses George. And he specifically mentioned a book that he studied when getting ready for the role...that includes the details recorded in King George's journals released in 2013.... So he most likely had bipolar in mind when making this show but in that interview the actor does not mention which disorder he had chosen specifically. 🤷‍♀️

He was more likely dealing with bipolar with psychotic symptoms...than both bipolar and schizophrenia. Mainly because in the show it shows that he has these psychotic symptoms when manic and that's it. So he most likely has mania that causes psychotic symptoms to happen.
