The record itself had two MASSIVE hits; "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Under Pressure" with Bowie, so I guess it makes sense that this one basically just got shoved aside and into obscurity. When I was little, my mom had the "Hot Space" cassette in her car. Back then of course you didn't often skip songs on a tape, so I heard this A LOT, but didn't pay much attention though, honestly, I just liked the aforementioned hits. Well, it'll no longer be underrated; no doubt a whole new generation will be exposed to it and love it because it's all over the TV rn.

@Schmidtelpunkt6 жыл бұрын
Because it sounds like a band trying to cash in on something they don't really understand. It is an album made up of songs which would be better-than-average-fillers, but in no way carry the album or come close to being Queen classics. It is not surprise that none of the songs made it to the Greatest Hits compilation - except Under Pressure, which was made in a different context. But of course that makes Cool Cat that hidden gem in Queen's catalogue, so maybe the main merrit of the album is hiding something worth being discovered?

Totally agree! Very underrated album. Probably because back in the day people were more closed minded when it comes to music genres. So rock fans were supposed to hate funk, disco, etc, and since MTV banned the video to the album's lead single BODY LANGUAGE the album stayed under the radar of any audience outside of the Queen fanbase. (BTW: MTV also banned their next album's lead single I WANT TO BREAK FREE and so basically killed Queen's US career for the rest of the 80's.)

As a 53yr old growing up the 70s & 80s when the music scene was very diverse Queen was one of the groups that everyone was digging the scene with. I remember when Another One Bites The Dust was the jam in the 80s and many other jams by Queen. I said all that to say embarrassingly I might add, how in the world did I missed this Gem💎 💎 Rest Easy Freddie Mercury🙏🙏

There Can Only Be One! My daughter & I were from his beginning. She had 2 LPs of every Queen album. One she never opened. Had every book printed about Queen. I think much surprise 'new' QUEEN Songs are the Substitute Freddie Mercury singer(s). That, Or Songs being reworked, or were composed using his voice & manipulating it electronically & with AI. To my ear, this does NOT sound like FM. I think his unique vibes & timing can Not be matched by anyone else.

They studied his vocal chords and turns out the man could sing 4 octaves! FOUR BLOODY OCTAVES. Freddie was not of this world. He surpassed all of us mere mortals with his immense talent. Then AIDS came along and that of course ruined everything for a while there, at least until Brian and Roger found Adam Lambert. Thank whatever deity there is or is not for Adam; Freddie would be so proud

I've been a huge Queen fan for over 40 years and I admit that when this album first came out, I was NOT into it. It was too much a departure for me at that time, at that age, of the Queen that I knew and loved. Like so many other posters here, I "found" this song from the recent Amazon commercial and now that I'm older and wiser(?) I fell in love with this song. Freddie's voice is unreal ....so beautiful.... and it's a great funky little jam. RESPECT!
@thexalon5 ай бұрын
See, one thing I appreciate about Hot Space is that it *was* a departure. They continued to evolve and expand artistically, and try stuff that wasn't at all artistically safe. Once they'd established themselves, no 2 albums sound the same.
