An incredible and precise dynamic of his playing is what makes Queen songs so unique. It is like he is singing through a piano and each voice of this choir is clear and sharp. The bass line with octaves, and the chords in right hand might seem pretty straightforward especially to skilled classic players, but many of those who are doing covers for this song are not even close in terms of power and control. I'm not even talking about the structure and composition itself and how the piano instrumental is perfectly complementing the main vocals. This is a classic pop song, but can listen to this forever on repeat because of the beautiful piano line.

This is the closest thing you'll get to the isolated piano, as it is from the multitrack. Any other sounds you're hearing is due to them recording a grand piano with a microphone in a small studio.

What's the brand of the piano ?
@amiralishkabratishka14982 жыл бұрын
In the early years, the musician did not have a permanent piano. On the A Night at the Opera tour, he played Steinway and Bechstein IV (for example, in concert at the Hammersmith Odeon). On the A Day at the Races tour, Freddie rented a Bösendorfer piano (Houston) and a 1972 Steinway D (Europe). On the latter, he also played on the Jazz, Crazy, The Game and Hot Space tours. At The Works concerts, the vocalist changed the piano to a more modern analog D 8. (I found this in the article)

@@hankjohnson8219 It is simple, he's just rolling back and forth playing mainly crotchets and the odd quaver between his little finger and thumb on the octaves. In comparison for example to playing a ragtime left hand it's very easy. Actually if you watch carefully, most rock/pop piano players play octaves in the bass and nothing more. I'm not saying it's not good as this is what I would do when playing this style of music, just not too difficult.
