Every since I can remember I’ve admired her majesty’s commitment to her country. No other head of state of the last hundred years led a nation so elegantly and poised like she did. I only hope that the monarchs that will proceed her will look up to her example of humility and devotion. May Her Majesty rest in eternal peace.

Rest assured, I think finally, King Charlie understands the importance of his position and will be a great King of reform. With his work in Burnley, he has look out for the impoverish and weak. He will not follow the same path as his mother, she was unique! William and Katie are now in a fantastic position to blossom and influence the the world. I'm optimistic

Another magnificent one Rob, and a fitting tribute to Her Majesty. She is, of course, the only Queen we have known, and she was a shining example of selfless giving. Forget the naysayers, the overwhelming feeling of most of us is one of great sadness and loss. Even our very young grandchildren, having laid flowers at Windsor Castle will remember her passing and I hope will learn more about her in the future if history is kind to her. God rest her soul and long live The King

Rob - walking the streets of London so we with bad hips don't have to. Another superbly crafted, informative and interesting video. Thank you. I was born in coronation year and so found the day of the Queen's passing very strange indeed. I don't think the 21st century is turning out quite like us 20th century folk hoped it might but the Queen was a direct link to a better time when politicians were by and large honest and upright, people weren't famous just for being famous and there was one fatal shooting a year at most. I was remembering the sweet shop too, in maybe 1960, when you could get 4 sweets for 1d. Imagine that... 960 sweets for £1. Happy days. I don't have particularly strong views on the subject but it seems to me that Trafalgar Square is too busy already statuary-wise and a bit grubby too. I could imagine an embankment statue, maybe outside the Queen Elizabeth Hall or maybe on a nice new, high plinth in the middle of a permanently pedestrianised Exhibition Road. Not my decision to make thankfully 🙂
@Robslondon2 жыл бұрын
Lovely comment Paul, thank you. Yes, the 21st century certainly isn't going well is it... one of the main icons I associate with that era is Concorde, which doesn't exist now of course; let alone have anything more advanced than that. Oh well! Stay well.

She will always be my queen. I'm an American (Irish-American family). Once coming back from summer vacation the teacher hung news clippings on the wall. Asked us to write what we knew about them. I knew no one in the photos. He brought me up to one and said "who is this?!". I said I had no idea. He said it was the US president and I should know him. I said, it's not like it's the queen. Really liked the movie The King's Speech. I stammered as a child.

It seems kind of appropriate that the Crosrail Elizabeth line finally opened during the queen's final year. I don't really think there's much doubt what will be constructed atop the fourth plinth. Everyone knew all along what it was there for; they were just too polite to say it out loud. Those in charge of such things were obviously keeping it free until "something" happened. We will, very soon, be told what that "something" was.😁
