I worked at the London Palladium for a few years, and the Queen and family were regulars, and twice a year for the Royal Performances. I think she was probably “the BEST Royal” to ever exist. As a monarch from the tail end of the Horsedrawn society, to the nucleus age, remaining regal and relevant was all but impossible, and she did it and more importantly stayed unstained throughout.. I don’t think people really understand how the world changed under her reign. And she always seemed relevant.

The Queen did a brilliant job but she was a naturally shy woman and, for her, being the centre of attention was never really her comfort zone so it’s a big stretch to say she ‘loved her job’ (ironically both her mother and sister adored being feted yet they both had to play second fiddle to the one who wanted it least). As for Charles, I think he’s a magnificent successor and is a profoundly thoughtful and conscientious man. This is fortunate for the country because the idea of Andrew being the first born doesn’t bear thinking about (which is why, in spite of us lucking out with Elizabeth and Charles, hereditary monarchy really belongs to a bygone age)

@@scented-leafpelargonium3366 Agreed, I am assuming she found the Tories of the last 12 years of Her Reign irksome but it isn't a wild guess because I'm drawing my conclusion from the privations caused by Austerity, the societal divisions erupting by way of the Referendum debate and finally the misleading of Her Majesty in 2019 by Johnson, through Jacob Rees-mogg, wrongfully advising the Queen to Prorogued Parliament; the case brought by Gina Miller against that action by the Prime Minister confirmed the Prorogation in 2019 was illegal. So, although Her Majesty did remain entirely silent as to Her feelings and advice to Her Prime Ministers, I can't say she was pleased to have harm inflicted upon Her people for the sake of Party political expedient. Nor was she delighted to be dragged into a constitutional debate, and court case, that damaged the reputation of the Government formed in Her name by the Tories in Parliament.

I’ve heard many times that the actual Royals are quite easy to deal with but watch out for the senior staff because they’ll eat 😊you alive. In my heart, I truly believe that is what happened with Megan Markel. I think the Senior Staff was out to make her life miserable before they even met her. I think they just didn’t like the idea OF her. And snippets I’ve read from people who worked with her sound very childish to me. One person complained that she had got an email at 5 am to do something. Meghan being a very early riser probably sent the email when she thought about it. I highly doubt she meant for her staff to hop to it at 5am but whenever she had got in the office. I 😊used to do the exact same thing-shoot off an email when I thought of it of pcourse not expecting anyone to do anything at the godawful time I sent it. I thought that staff member was just being rude to say that.😊
