Drag is part of british culture they saw the humour and it was parody of coronation st a well loved soap in the UK, but British people weirded out by the ballet bit! They were from the royal ballet their part was inspired by the 1912 ballet an afternoon of a faun which was controversial at the time,the cream and brown outfit was copied from the original Thry knew he couldnt Dance so improvised! They first met and worked together in 1979 they asked freddie to do a charity ballet with them thinking he could dance,well he couldn't! But he loved ballet so the compromise was he sang,they danced picked he up,moved him around then placed him back several times!he even sang upside down at one point! Ballet for life did a tribute ballet in 1997 which they still perform! The proceeds going to mercury trust for aids The director hadn't met but loved freddie as a performer and the music and his lead ballet dancer died the following year also of aids(1992) Theme is the cycle of life and dying too young It's not traditional ballet at all,more modern dance and the outfits were designed by Versace who was shot in 1997 Used the style of some of his iconic outfits They danced to queen music and some motzart A dvd documentary was done including the ballet and those proceeds were also donated to the charity The director lived in montreux and met roger,may and Deacon when they unveiled a statue of freddie and he told them what he was planning Obviously he would need their permission for the music as well
