a decade plus ago.... first trip to LA... only star I saw was Queen Latifah's. decade plus ago.... charter one pavilion in Chicago... Badu, Jilly from Philly.... only artist to REALLY hype the crowd was Queen Latifah. As a young kid, she was one of a few young black women on tv that resonated with me. I am thankful she is who she is and moves the way she does. it's like she wears responsibility like a crown and was...IS an amazing model for young women. I'll be tuning in

Why do you even bother to have a food prep segment when you give them so little time? It was the worse today, actually ridiculous , resembled more of a comedy . I would like to have been able to see how she prepared the cauliflower and then Ginger actually yanked the bowl from Laura’s hand and did not follow the receipt . Honestly I felt the same as you but then realized Hollywood has been doing this for decades. Actually in the beginning, many authentic characters or characters that were influenced by real people were white washed. Today with Hollywood attempting to expand diversity, they are changing stories, changing a character's sexual orientation etc. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Even a movie based on Michael Jackson, they are considering a white guy. Many American characters are portrayed by English actors. So it is just all goofy. I simply want actors that are true to the storyline. If they are retelling an already very familiar story, either represent the characters honestly or remake the movie like they did with the Wiz. Same basic story but how it was told was so different it made sense, if you understand my meaning.

@@magsbayou Yes I do get your meaning. I love the wiz it's also scary which I like. However I see it as a different version then the wizard of oz. Race is very important in movie and television roles and we have respect people of color In characters on they're own race. If I made a cartoon superhero black family and they're Mexican neighbor then a producer wanted to make a live action movie about it, suddenly the live action characters we're all white! I think I would be pissed because it's the characters i created. I wouldn't replace race in characters they were designed for.

To be fair, Pocahontas and Mulan were characters telling the ethnic stories of historical accounts, and Ariel was a damn mermaid.

@@sjbenson5618 yeah many people were pissed about avatar the last air bender. All the Asian characters were misrepresented. They were white or hindi instead of mostly native American, Chinese and Japanese. So I get your meaning. Before people kind of accepted because Hollywood was owned and operated by one demographic. During that time, all used white actors for all ethnic groups. When they didn't, they were portrayed as negative stereotypes. If there was a program that was non white , they actors were black but behind the scenes, was all white so the storylines were from their perspective. Today we are trying to learn to do better but as I said sometimes they do it unwisely. And we are not used to beloved figures being non white washed.
