💝 LOVE OF MY LIFE 💝💖💞 Written by Freddie about Mary Austin, former fiancé and long life friend. Freddie referred to Mary as his common-law wife. If you focus on the lyrics it’s actually written from Mary’s perspective (IMO) knowing that Freddie had to break up with Mary due to his sexuality and then current boyfriend. Freddie couldn’t imagine life without Mary so he made sure she remained in his life until he passed away on Nov. 24, 1991. Freddie left 50% of his estate to Mary, Freddie’s home Garden Lodge, and all future Queen royalties belonging to Freddie! Everything in the home including Freddie’s art collection, checking accounts, and personal belongings are bequeathed to Mary. Now that’s a Love Story! 💝💖💞

Hey Shiloh Honey, It is SO NICE to see you do another Queen/Freddie reaction! As already mentioned, Freddie wrote this song for his life-long best friend Mary Austen. In current-day Queen+Adam Lambert concerts, Brian May always performs this song as a heart-wrenching tribute to Freddie: Brian plays/sings the first part of the song... then after his guitar solo, a larger-than-life Freddie magically walks out onstage (thanks to the miracle of modern video technology) and leads the audience through the last part of the song. There is never a dry eye in the audience... and Brian keeps a kerchief on his lap behind his guitar, to wipe his own eyes. BEAUTIFUL tribute. WORD OF ADVICE: If you watch the movie, PLEASE be aware that they used a LOT of "creative license" with the facts/timeline details etc. It is a good movie/Rami Malek did a fantastic job of portraying Freddie (he won an Oscar for it)... but if you do decide to watch it, it would really be SMART to follow up by watching one of the documentaries here on YT about Freddie. (Or just put a post out on YT asking all of us Queen fans to set the incorrect facts from the movie straight for you!) Re. documentaries, "Freddie Mercury The Great Pretender" is a really good one.

WHEN you watch the movie, keep in mind, they played with facts for dramatic effect. Live Aid (which they ended the movie with) was in 1985. he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987. Despite his very significant deterioration over the next few years, his band mates weren’t actually told of his AIDS diagnosis until just before his death in 1991.
@fryke3 жыл бұрын
His band mates actually knew in 1986, near the end of the Magic tour. They knew through the production of "The Miracle" and "Innuendo" albums, of course. Us, the public, weren't informed until the day before he died. He had a press release inform us.

@@fryke 86? Freddie didn't know until April 87 Freddie realised something was wrong at the end of 86 tour it was beyond normal aches and fatigue and he said I'm fkg done with touring he didn't mention anything to them that he thought anything serious was wrong he lied for quite a long time after finding out claiming he had liver problems and such 87 only mary and jim were told he then told montsarat but she didn't tell anyone a lot of things with Queen/Freddie aren't explained clearly their producer David said Roger went to him asking did he know what was wrong with Freddie Brian isn't reliable with information but has said they knew about a year and a half before he died I don't think anyone has said clearly when they were told but they didnt seem to know atleast at the begining of miracle album he may have told them during but we don't know edit he only told his sister he was terminal in August 1990 but didn't say what was wrong with him
@fryke3 жыл бұрын
@@bluebell3720 Okay, maybe '86 was a bit early. You can claim Brian's not reliable all you want - all we really have is what the people involved have said (and it's been 30 years now, people's memories mix and adapt all the time), and I take Roger and Brian's voices over any producer's claims. Freddie was very private - and the fact that he didn't tell his sister until very late speaks to that as well. Don't think they went to work on tracks like "Was it all worth it" without talking about his health, though.

@@fryke you said you would take Roger and Brians word but you haven't offered me any information to explain what has been claimed I haven't seen anything that's clear time wise only things mentioned was he was claiming to have other problems he had told Beach but told him not to tell the band which he felt awkward with working with them and they didnt know David Richards who was working with them said Roger asked him if he knew what was wrong Brian said he thinks it was about a year and a half before he died he's not always reliable but this would fit with recording innuendo they said it was a rule not to discuss songs sure they would have questioned themselves him writting was it all worth it but miracle was the first album after their agreed brake,Freddie said at the end of the brake they needed to decide if they really wanted to carry on the song wouldnt have been extremly suspicious considering this was the first album they wouldnt have toured lots of problems and compromises and so on
@fryke3 жыл бұрын
@@bluebell3720 I said that the bandmates (i.e. Roger, Bri and Deacy) knew about it before "shortly before his death" that the OG poster claimed. This can easily be corroborated by various interviews over the past 30 years with Bri and Roger. Look em up, if you need to. If you just want to find nooses to hang around youtube posters' statements, go look for another prey.
