I graduated in 1981. They were, and still are everything!! Brian May built his beautiful electric guitar with his dad when he was 15. By far one of the greatest of all guitarists. I love that he didn't destroy them either. I saw The Who, just to hear Roger Daltrey scream, but was sickened by the destruction Pete Townsend had to display.

This is the loveliest version by Freddie, he was at the top of his game, and his voice was perfect. Have you seen in later years, with Brian on a platform in the middle of the audience, and they sing with him. Near the end, Freddie is shown on video on a screen finishing the song. I have seen tears in Brian's eyes a few times. Also, on the platform next to Brian is an empty stool. My tears.

I heart love of my life when Dimash sang it with super vocal boys (medley) as a tribute to Queen and since then I’am fond of this masterpiece song of Freddie too😍he sings it so delicatly and genuinly realy beautifull. Brian said in the dvd commentary that Freddie was so use to the crowd loudly singing the song back to him he wasn't use to singing it all the way through. The crowd were enjoying the gig but weren't participating as the band were use to. Freddie apparently said to Brian 'They don't know it' and Brian replied back ' That's alright ' The gesture is I think, well it's just us two then! I had the great fortune to attend a " Queen " concert in 1980 in Cologne/Germany and can only confirm - they were and will always remain one of the best bands of all time. I suspect, that you prefer reacting to live performances, but would love to see your analysis of MV of Freddy's last song "I'm going slightly mad".In my eyes - one of the most underrated songs of "Queen". Great reaction and analysis. You discuss something that is not often discussed, it would be great if you could analyse The Golden Boy by Freddie and Montserrat Caballe. The way Freddie changed his voice to more warmth, from high to low, or distortion is remarkable, and it is something you don't see that much. He almost never just sang a line, he added different pitches and colours to different words. This really helps to underline the emotion of the song. Singing isn't just about hitting a few high notes, you are also telling a story or relaying a message through a song.

Might sound strange, but I think great thing about Fred was he could improv his voice . He could switch things up at will. Lot of other singers try to always sound just like a recording. Some spend years in intensive vocal training to be able to perform. Then there are those to whom it just comes so naturally, like Fred. Myself, I am mediocre at best.
