Queen Margrethe should be known as "The Mother of Europe". What fun it is to have Royal families. Following the history of these countries and the roles the Monarchs play makes learning history so much more interesting.. I certainly would not want to abolish them.

Looks like we have a budding conductor there. The Queen of Denmark has always seemed cheerful and confident to me. Oh, these royal families do teach the kids to do the waving bit from the time they're small. Well, it's not easy to wave for fifteen minutes and appear to love every second of it unless you've practiced.

It is very sad, that prince Henrik had passed away less that a year after the Queen's birthday. it is not to understand, that he could not recower from a lunginfection, which he got under a holiday in Egypt, where he was staying both in November an December and again from January the fourth. In the end of the month he became ill with a lunginfection, and he had to fly back to Denmark, where he had to go to the hospital immediately, after his return to Denmark. On the 13.of february prince Henrik passed away at the age of 83 years old at the castle of Fredensborg.

The Danish monarchy seems more relatable that the British. (and i'm a big fan of Queen Elizabeth too!). Notice the red-coated guard (?) smile as he opens the door in this video. he's enjoying the moment. Guards and staff in the Brit vids. are stiffly formal. Proper, no doubt. But it's fun to see the Dane's enjoy their Queen.

The British Royal Family are just as loving, but in private. The Danish people expect this from their royal family, the British don't. It is the different natures of the people of the country, not the royal family.
