Queen Mary 2 is longer. Also, they took a horn from the old Queen Mary, refurbished it and mounted it on the Queen Mary 2 along with a second identical horn from the original manufacturer

@@elit2175 Yes, that is true. But, since the time of the original Queen Mary, the legal minimum frequency of the whistle has changed. The minimum low frequency at the time the original horn was built was 55hz, but it has since been changed to 70hz.

My father was a WWII veteran who rode the Queen Mary over to Europe in wartime. How neat to hear the original horn and know that my Dad also heard it sound- many times! He talked about riding the QM all of his life long, and considered it to be one of his best memories at what was obviously otherwise a difficult time. Thank you for posting this video.

My favorite location aboard the Queen Mary 2...I am there rain or shine at noon anytime I am embarked. The original Queen Mary Horn needs steam at the proper pressure to sound like you can here in old films/recordings. While it does sound good here...it just lacks the punch of the 300 psi steam.
