The original setting has not been changed. Just the central part of the belt taken out to be used in this new tiara setting. I hope Brittany’s guess is right, that one or both of the other pieces are used, either as a matching necklace, or else as bracelets? Love that Mary is renewing the entire parure! ❤❤❤
@Jack-py3cvАй бұрын
Brittany, you are pointing out the tiaras Queen Mary had access to as a Crown Princess. She now wears the Emerald parure, the Pearl Poire tiara she looked stunning in Norway and at least one gold tiara from Greenland. Queen Mary also has unlimited access to the Midnight tiara, which I think looks amazing on her. She is brilliantly refashioning a new tiara but she was not had to “go begging” for beautiful tiaras to wear.

Love the video and I’m excited for the debut - hopefully soon! You are so right about the wedding tiara… looks like costume jewelry/something you’d find at Claire’s. Mary is smart to release this video showing her “up cycling” unused jewels as to not cause outrage (in today’s climate) when it’s debuted. Between that, the messy bun, and scrunchie on the wrist, it’s a great PR move as it makes her look relatable, resourceful, and sensible. Women all over the world: yes, girl.. with that messy bun!

Translation: "For the first time in over 180 years, we are currently transforming part of the Crown Jewels. Together with Queen Mary, we are reviving the Royal Collection, a centuries-long tradition of reshaping the Danish crown jewels according to the changing needs of the times, while also bringing the rarely used Rosenstenssæt back to life. The idea was created in a joint dialogue with the Queen about the use of the Crown Jewels. This long chain has hardly ever been used for several generations.From a dialogue with the Queen, an idea arose to mount these stones in a frame so that it could be worn as a diadem. It has been a challenging task for the goldsmith, who has not been able to touch the settings, but instead had to find another solution, whereby you can take the stones out of the long chain, keep them in their settings and then mount them on a frame, so that we get a tiara. The Rosenstens Tiara is soon to be completed, and like the other parts of the Crown Jewels, it will be worn on special occasions. But otherwise you can see it every day in the treasury deep under Rosenborg Castle." Now mind you - while I can translate Danish to English and English to Danish there might be one or two words I missed and that is why I use Google translate for something like this. But I do think you got the gist of what was said here.
@LouiseAndersen1991Ай бұрын
Also: When in Copenhagen, and knowing how far away you live, you deffintly need to go and visit Rosenborg! If you are not going home until saturday evening/sunday, you should have the time to go there - and go in the morning as you might otherwise not have the time

This is exciting and I do love the idea that Queen Mary of Denmark is having this tiara made out of this old diamond sautoir. I think it is also perfect that instead of having it made like the Dutch tiara, Queen Mary's new tiara looks like the diamonds will be elevated from the frame and looks like they will be en-tremblant style although as you mentioned it would be nice if she had it made with a second row of diamonds which will be spectacular. The Danish royal jewelry collection although old but most of the tiaras are not spectacular pieces but this new tiara if done with two rows of diamonds will be star in the collection.

I like the entremblant movement of the tiara. Older tiaras such as, floral tiaras, sometimes have that design. As the wearer moves their head the light catches the diamonds and makes it seem sparklier. Q: doesn’t Queen Mary have access to the Moonstone tiara as a loan?

Yes, the midnight tiara is owned by the jewelry house but on permanent loan to Queen Mary.

I love this too! Repurposing or refashioning stuff you already have is more affordable than buying brand new. I love that Queen Mary has made tiara out of a old diamond belt. She must have gotten inspired by the royal danish family's diamond bandeau and wanted one for herself. I make to take a moment to point out that you're finally acknowledging the similarities between Princess Catherine of Wales and Queen Mary of Denmark, I noticed it the first time at The Coronation of King Charles III back when Mary was the Crown Princess. I didn't know that they're both related to Queen Mary I until know. But which one of these women has a Scottish father? Also This is my first time seeing the Queen Mary without makeup.

Thanks for doing this particular upload. I found it very interesting. Had you not done so I’m sure I never would’ve heard about it. I saw the exhibit of Cartier jewelry when he came to Dallas. And there were several tiara’s in that particular exhibit that were likely made for I believe they said George the fifth’s coronation for minor Royals or lesser persons in aristocracy who were attending the coronation. In effect, we were seeing history here. the cut of those stones takes us back into the 18th century. The ability to watch them as they were in effect, constructing the tiara and why they were using those particular stones because of the history of dress of the time in which they were originally made or cut rather is just fascinating. thank you for the wonderful commentary to help us understand what was being said, perhaps by the gentleman who was speakingDanish. Indeed, I hope we see this on her and the dress that she may have had designed to go with it.

She added jewelry team and changed other items to suit her taste how wonderful in danish queen could take old not used or fragile items and rework them to be useable. The crown jewels of Denmark are on display in the basement of Rosenborg castle in the center of Copenhagen. They are in quite small rooms in the basement, so it is an intimate, close-up experience. There are old crowns and other regalia which are never used anymore (with respect, I hope Mary does not get her hands on them. Just leave them be!) Very interesting to see. Definitely go there, it is the cutest castle I have ever seen.
