Look back 100 years ago and male Royals were not interested in politics . They were irresponsible and just interested in hunting, shooting and having fun. Marriages were arranged and they all had a lover or two on the side. The Princesses/Wives were supposed to wear lovely clothes, look beautiful and keep their mouths shut ,and of course give birth to children ,especially an heir. By contrast , today's princes and princesses are vey well educated. Prince Charles went to Cambridge, Prince Haakon went to university in Oslo and London University, Prince Frederik has 2 Masters DEgrees and studied at Aarhus and Harvard, King William Alexander studied in Amsterdam, and the USA and became an Airline Pilot. The Queen of the Netherlands was an International Finance expert. Princess Mary of Denmark has a Double First in Law and Finance and was Company Director of a major Australian Company aged only 26.She is now an international leader in a number of important areas These highly educated Royals are not content to be pushed around by Royal Advisors . They are now demanding a proper Role in their country's future . In Britain Prince William and Princess Catherine are highly educated. In .Britain on 20th October we have the contrast of a highly educated King , with a less well educated Prime Minister , who ,clearly was not up to the job. The role of the King has got to change , and a proper compromise between the roles of Parliament and the King have got to be thought out. It cannot be right that old-fashioned advisors have stopped our King from being a main speaker at an inter-nationsal conference on Climate change and alternative ways of generating energy. Our King should be above Party Politics , but be able to speak and give a lead in political issues which concern the whole nation. In the present muddle , politically it would be much better if the MPs gave the King 2 names to choose from In the Tory Party middle class voters are being kept from being members , and the same thing happens in the Labour Party. We now have the Loony Left versus the Rotten Right , with the Middle Classes being denied a vote but having to pay all the taxes. I want MY King tp represent me and sort out this mess.

You are totally right about leaders and their appearance. We had our first female Prime Minister here in Australia several years ago and the media ripped her appearance to shreds, because she was not glamorous and didn’t dress as sophisticated as media wanted. But they never commented on the appearance of any male leader.

Wow! She is smart, well educated, and beautiful, and her kindness goes beyond borders to help girls, boys, women, and men to reach affordable education and yet people criticize her. And she keeps on going. That says a lot about her as a person, although I didn't know about the King or Queen in Jordan arresting people who spoke against them. They have been very vocal in bringing changes to their homeland, I hope they are able to remove that "rule" or law and allow their citizens to express their opinions without fear. Honestly, I don't know what is like living in their country, I do know change, growth and innovation can be scary, especially in their citizen's hearts. Sometimes, those changes can be beneficial in the long run. As you say Karine, whether you are nice, rude, clean, dirty, or other you can never satisfy people enough, they just keep on over-analysing your appearance, your gestures, your mission/motivations, etc.

Pretty privilege is definitely a huge thing, both for men and women but more so women. I would probably be considered as objectively attractive, I’m basing those claims on that I’ve been approached by models agents a few times, and have noticed different treatments in comparison to a friend that would be seen as objectively less attractive. I’m from Sweden but have lived in Korea as well. Both in Sweden and Korea I was given benefits I would say, but the most memorable was in Korea. Me and a few friends were going to a few clubs in Seoul, mostly in Gangnam or Itaewon area. Sometimes they would only let me and a friend in but not the rest. When I asked why they said they had invalid IDs or some other stupid excuse. We all had the same and Korea’s alien registration card is the most valid ID for foreigners. It was very clear that they wanted one type of look in their clubs but not another. I’ve been approached by rich men too that thinks their money will attract pretty women etc, which many times are true. It’s sad how one person suddenly has more or less human worth based on something they can’t control, unless they do surgery. Queen Rania herself has obviously had plastic surgery if we look and her before pictures. Although she already was naturally beautiful, the surgery definitely gave her a boost. We will never be able to tackle those kinds of injustices if we don’t admit that pretty privilege is a thing. Now we hear the narratives how looks doesn’t matter and how people are beautiful in their own ways etc. I think we’re doing ourselves a disservice cause we’re ignoring how beauty does matter and will often cause inequality, very often in workplaces which should be a major concern. Sorry, went out of topic a bit 😅.

Hey Karine I love your channel and all the research that you put in. I would like to make a correction though, honor killings are not about women not following “Muslim rules” Christian girls and women are victims of honor killings as well. It is a very shameful albeit niche part of our society and there is growing work to end this horrible practice. It is however not part of the Muslim religion.

I’m so happy you pointed that out because I was going to do the same thing. I love Rania though. Even though her husband has taken public funds and hid it in the US and bought luxurious properties when the country was going through a drought.

I'm Italian and I think the mindset here is closer to those of the Arabic countries than to continental Europe. Equality btw men and women is pretty much far off. Those territories are in need of role models like her... o.c she is even stunning and haters are going to focus solely on her appearance, at the same time when a woman gets a bit of weight or doesn't look completely put together chances are she will become a target for disrespectful comments...

So I shouldn't consider moving to Italy? People don't hate her for her looks, but mainly because of the way she's handling things over at Jordan 🙄 and that spills into her looks

@@DiamondsRexpensive if u have streams of income from elsewhere it's fine, otherwise it can be tricky. Idk where u r from, but ppl would regard you as a person from abroad so they won't be that harsh on u, it's usually a treatment they reserve to local women.

Queen Raina was once dubbed _Marie Antoinette of east_ King Abdullah is very progressive coz he grew up with his British mother outside Jordan ( his father divorced his mother for a younger women while she was holidaying with her kids) . Thus King Abdullah’s upbringing is very much western.

Dang, if only British royalty were raised in Britain, especially that Charles amd Andrew, they would've turned out much better. (Also he's literally a tyrant sweety and needs to go so that Jordan can hopefully become a republic one day, but claim him and his mannerism all you want😊 I think he represents Britain too, but probably in a different way than you)

Wonderful woman under every possible angle of view, but she was also very fortunate to have found such a husband, with whom is perfectly matched. He has proved himself, for instance, helping her sister Haya to escape her husband dominions. He's the powerful and rich king of Dubai, who allegedly did terrible things to his own daughters, and planned to send her common girl to marry in Arabia the crown prince when still a teen. Well, Haya escaped to the UK, but she could stay there , in the beginnings, because her brother offered her a position in the diplomatic system of Jordan. A really compelling and scary story ... Back to Rania: certainly she is intelligent and competent, but without her husband she couldn't possibly have blossomed as she did, and their combination is a lucky strike for international politics and the positive development of our history and civilization. Those two are doing a great job, meanwhile others...

Interesting you bring up Meghan Markle for comparison. A female royale always has to look perfect for the press. I recently stumbled upon Megyn Kelly's new podcast, and she describes Megyn as a total diva. I generally think Megyn is a smart woman, so it's interesting she got a little more tabloid later in her career than her former news stories. I thought to myself is Meghan actually a diva? However, as a cisgender male White American, I'm not sure I'll ever be fully able to differentiate among sources what's tabloid and what's prejudice. All I can do now is listen (btw if you have a video on Meghan then idk cuz I just discovered your channel recently).
