People listened when Freddie was singing or talking because he had a talent and passion like no other for music.He made sure that the crowd was involved with the performance.I had the pleasure or honor to see him live back in 85 and in 86.I never felt what i felt since then with live performances it was amazing.

"Save Me" is also the name of Brian's animal welfare foundation. Besides being a rock god guitarist/composer & renowned astrophysicist, he's also one of Britain's foremost animal protection advocates, tirelessly battling things like fox-hunting and the culling of badgers. I love him for that in addition to his talent. Just think, there's not another human being on the planet who could be described like that. As for the kind of song you asked about, the first thing I thought of was that fairly short live rendition of "You Take My Breath Away" at Hyde Park. But you've already done that one and I don't think you liked it a lot (I'll have to rewatch it). Do you ever go back & relisten to some songs to see if they might grow on you? That one might be worth revisiting. Just Freddie, his piano, and a whole lotta passion. Great reaction, as usual. Looking forward to what's next. Been watching since you started "the book of Queen". I think it's high time I subscribed.

I agree with you! That intro is absolutely beautiful. Freddie's vocals are very pure.

It's called the 'call' and 'response'. Freddie would sing something, like do, do, da. And the crowd would mimic him. He could and would do it as long as he wanted to, as long as he was having fun. Freddie always said, if he was up there and having fun, the crowd would relax and join in the fun with him!

They were all multi talented multi instrument musicians, so Brian May (the guitarist) started on the piano and then went back to guitar when Freddie took over the piano !! By the way the next Queen song I highly recommend is White Queen , the harmonies are so good in this
@walover1655 жыл бұрын
All of them were very multitalented when it came to instruments. Freddie, Brian and John all played piano (John is playing in the start of the Spread Your Wings video), they all played guitar (Roger and John both played electric and rhythm guitar on some tracks, and Freddie played on Crazy Little Things Called Love), and then there was an assortment of other instruments that they often threw in: triangle, double bass (John), harp, ukelele-banjo (Brian), and they all got very good at playing synths in the 80s. One thing I wish they showed in this video is what must happen in the second chorus: where Brian must stand up from the piano and start playing guitar in one movement. We get a similar shot in Spread Your Wings (John stands up from the piano and starts playing bass). Anyway, I love this song, and I love this version of the song, and there's so much more to check out!

Freddie’s voice at the forefront: 1) You take my breath away - studio version. 2) Love of my life. 3) My Meloncholy Blues - no guitar, just Freddie, his piano and a gentle blues rhythm in the background. Glorious! Studio version as well - no good live recordings it seems.

Brian May blows me away on this. Beautiful piano playing at the beginning and the next thing you know he he's playing a blistering guitar solo. And he wrote this. And now he's also an astrophysicist (Dr. Brian May) and still plays rock concerts. That is a brilliant dude.

Thanks for doing this song! I think it's one of Brian's most beautiful compositions and Freddie sings with such emotion. Try 'You Take My Breath Away' (official lyric video) - Freddie's voice is at the forefront and it's sublime. There's also 'My Melancholy Blues' and 'Nevermore', which is only 1 minute 20 seconds long but so, so beautiful.

A great song, in my opinion, that really features Freddie's voice is, "My Melancholy Blues". It's a light jazzy-blues song. You're welcome! ;-) Also there's "You Take My Breath Away", but I think you've done that one haven't you?

What I can hardly recommend to you is to react to In The Lap Of The Gods live at the Rainbow. The combination of their four instruments is absolutely stunning in this song and the harmony created by Freddie's and Roger's voices together is top. It's worth listening to. Give yourself a chance and you won't regret it.

Freddie was the god-like master of controlling the crowd. Even after he was dead - 27 years after he was dead!! Check out the crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the Green Day concert in 2017. Such an incredible tribute to such an incredible artist - he could still command an audience from his grave!

Fun Fact: The Concert was in 1981. It was filmed by 35mm-Hollywood-Cinema-Scope Cams, the sound was recorded in Dolby 5.1 (and later remastered in 7.1 & THX). Actually some years before the technologie was even used for "cinema"-movies in Hollywood! Costs? Don't ask! As this was planned as a movie (yep! it was schown in cinemas back then), this is the first and best music-concert-live-movie ever released at this point of time! I'd say: "WOW! Amazing!!!!" and Freddie woudl be like: "It's only a movie, Darlings - enjoy it! ;-)" ...

You've done the official video of "Love of My Life". But the live Montreal '81 version is really worth watching. Just Freddie & Brian's guitar (& a little singing along from the audience). Really pretty. And also famous for the shot of the audience at the end, and the look on a girl's face that kind of expresses how Freddie could affect people (so many people noticed it an article was written about her).
@susanscott33335 жыл бұрын
Yes Deborah my absolute favorite performance of that song. Freddie loved the audience to sing along but said they didn't know it, Roger gave him love to keep going and so he sang the entire song. What a beautiful being Freddie was in every sense of the word. That girl at the end kills me every time. I read the article about her - so sweet.

Well the band was pissed - the two concerts were filmed and they were told to wear the same clothes both days so the filmcompagny could choose the best version - and the audience where told to stay quiet and calm. The result was that the band didn't comply - Freddie wore small shorts - nothing else - also bare feet - - and he encouraged the crowd to move around - even take their clothes off if they wanted to - . The participation in the song was almost not to be heard - Freddie commented to Brian:"They don't know it" Brian answering:"it's all right"- But the quality was HD so the visual was ok.

Second comment - 1. Trust his genius. He was - they were - musical geniuses. 2. If you want Freddie's voice to be front and centre - The Prophet Song, studio version off the A Night at the Opera album. He did a three-way "a capella" with himself. Insane, incredible, and incomprehensible to us mere mortals. Seriously - check it out!

Please react to the full live aid performance by queen.Its 20 minuets long and it’s one of the most iconic performance.Queen performances was fantastic and controlled the crowd and the crowd was not Queen “fans” bc different artists sang at live aid.It was for ppl to donate to Africa.Ppl didn’t know Queen was going to be there but they were the best performance and controlled the crowd so easily.

Brian starts off this song on the piano then when the guitar part kicks in, he takes over on his guitar and Freddie plays the piano. If you look closely, you will see that Brian has his guitar on his lap while he is playing the piano. Well after Freddie's death, Brian actually said that he wrote this song about Freddie who was going through a very difficult breakup. Earlier, while Freddie was alive and in respect for his privacy, Brian just said it was about a friend and nothing more.
@darcisavelli5465 жыл бұрын
The thing that you can’t remember is when Freddie sings notes and raises his arm. The song is about a couple that had gotten a divorce. In the beginning of the song you hear how they feel like they will be together forever and that doesn’t happen.

You said Freddy has a voice that can stand on its own. So does Bri and Roger that what’s makes queen so special either one of the three of them could be lead singer. They all wrote hits there a very special band they were ahead of their time. Have you done the video who wants to live forever I think it’s one of their best. and Bri wrote that to do a duet with Freddy. because he was starting to get sick. Another video to react to is the invisible man it’s made like a game. It’s a lot of fun so is the video the miracle . Freddy was starting to get pretty sick then it’s worth taking a look. 🎸🎸🎸

Love of my live has been mentioned a few times. If you want another impressing Freddie - Song live (only with an acoustic guitar from Brian) you should check out "is this the world we created". I think the best versions are live at Wembley and live in Budapest. "Who wants to live forever" isn't a stand alone song and the version of the official Queen channel isn't the best, because Freddie didn't use all of his power. This was recorded on the first day of to days of the concert and I think, he saved his voice a bit for the second day. On the second day he unleashed all his power and the result (of the whole concert, by the way) is very impressing. I hope, I could help you a bit and whish you lots of fun with the best band of the world :-)

Really enjoy this reaction to one of my favorite Queen songs. You mentioned how cool it would have been if they had come come to just Freddie and the piano. Check out the studio recording of this song and it may be a little closer to what you have in mind. Especially at the very end
Did you see the 2016 Olympics they showed the image of Freddie doing what you're talking about on a big screen at his Wembly performance and the crowd still reacted the same way.

Don't you love that with this band... It's like who will take the piano this time? Everybody knows the parts. Brian has to play the solo so Freddy plays the piano part, but Freddy before that is like , "Brian mate can you take the piano I wanna connect with the audience on this part..." and Brian is like sure man-

On "A Night At the Opera" Queen proudly announced on the sleeve, "No synthesizers!"... Then on Flash Gordon soundtrack they used it due to the special fx and stuff, and took a liking to it. Sellouts! Hahaha... The irony is that throughout the 80's they became more and more disillusioned and commercial sounding, until what I call their big return to form with "A Kind of Magic"
