Did you notice the Brian has his guitar across his lap AS he is at the piano? Ready to jump up and start playing as he & Freddie switch places.

I love this song, here in Latin America it was one of Queen's most successful songs and to this day my mother remembers how she cried watching the show in São Paulo, Freddie could play the furthest thing. That was the biggest show we had here at the time and no one was able to go home because the streets were full, everyone slept there until the transport reopened and my mother says it was the most emotional day of her life. I love Brian's hair and I was lucky enough to be born with hair like his ❤

Wow! What a neat memory and story to pass down! That must have been incredible! I was never able to have curly hair. I had a few perms when I was younger, and they fell right out and my hair was straight again. Thanks to my first born, however, my hair is at least wavy now. 😅

This beauty was penned by Brian May about a friend’s difficult break-up! Later, May would admit that the friend was indeed Freddie after his break-up with then boyfriend, Joe Fanelli. They did remain friends as Fanelli later became Freddie’s private Chef at Garden Lodge. 👨🏻🍳 🥂🍾

I think David is a marshmallow softie, isn’t he? I was watching his face on this one, as well as the reaction to “Somebody To Love”.🥹😉 So, FYI… Brian plays: Electric guitar (obv); piano/keyboards; and HARP (And I’m sure you know that Bri built his Red Special guitar when he was a teenager.) Freddie plays: Piano (duh!); and acoustic guitar John plays: Bass guitar; keyboards; and CELLO/STRING BASS (In the MV for “Who Wants To Live Forever”, you can see him playing the cello… most people don’t notice it! And in the song “Cool Cat”, John played ALLLL the instruments - along with Freddie; there was NO Roger/Brian on that one. John also used his electrical engineering degree to design/build the one-of-a-kind Deaky Amp, which allows Brian to make allll those unique sounds on his Red Special; NOBODY else has ever been able to replicate this unique amp system.) Roger plays: Drums; and electric guitar (Do you know Roger has his own band - The Cross - where he sings lead/plays lead guitar?)

John Deacon was quietly very talented, but is sometimes not given credit for all he was able to contribute to Queen. Exceptional bassist, songwriter, Deaky amp, multiple instruments, are his many gifts.
@imweakfordeaky11 ай бұрын
John is also a very good guitarist, (having originally played it in his teenage band before taking over bass duties) - he often played rhythm guitar on many studio tracks, also acoustic/Spanish guitar… and even (sometimes) lead guitar on his own songs. Peter “Ratty” Hince (John and Freddie’s roadie and leader of the road crew) said John was the BEST rhythm guitarist in the band, and that he was fully capable of playing lead guitar but was content for Brian to have the spotlight. John was also most closely watching all things financial for the band, acting as THE designated representative of the members’ interests when it came to contracts and money. John is one very sharp dude. All in all, our quiet bass man is *incredibly talented*, and yet didn’t like the spotlight resting on *him* with the bright glare that Freddie (and Brian) dealt with.

@@imweakfordeaky Am I right in thinking that John still has oversight of the financial side of things, or has he retired from that now?
@imweakfordeaky11 ай бұрын
@@janettesinclair6279 according to Brian and Roger, John is still keeping an eye on the financial side of things. And his status is still listed as “Active” as one of the Directors of Queen Productions Ltd . He is simply retired from the performance side and is living quietly with his family.

In this song, written by Brian May, Freddie sings about the moments in a person’s life after a breakup. Brian admitted that he actually wrote the song about a friend of his whose relationship was coming to an end. Years later, Brian admitted the friend was actually Freddie. Recorded in the Summer of 1979 in Munich, the song was written when Freddie's relationship with American chef Joe Fanelli had just ended. FYI - In 1984, during Queen's "The Works" tour, Queen added Spike Edney to travel with them (though he has never been an official member of Queen). He is primarily known for playing keyboards but also rhythm guitar, and contributes backing vocals. Freddie, who was never really confident about his piano-playing ability, wanted to be able to perform on stage as he sang. For a while, the band would work out different ways to allow Freddie to be unshackled from the piano such as having Brian play the piano for the first part of this song. But eventually, they hired Phillip (Spike) Edney to accompany them onstage. Edney can be seen on Queen's Live at Wembley Stadium and Hungarian Rhapsody concert films, playing rhythm guitar on "Hammer to Fall," and piano on both "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Tutti Frutti." He can also be seen playing in the background during Queen's 1985 Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium. He would later comment that once Queen got on stage, the "lazy afternoon feeling..." "...changed instantly into a proper gig.

Love, Love, Love this song/performance. Thank you. Initially, Brian said that he wrote this song for a friend who was going through a difficult divorce but years later after Freddie had passed, he admitted that actually Freddie was the friend going through the difficult break up. Freddie always kept his personal life personal so Brian did not divulge the truth behind the song while Freddie was alive.

Three months later I was sitting in Madison Square Garden watching them play this live. Great night! How about something off of "News of the World". Some great cuts there "Spread Your Wings", "Get Down Make Love", "It's Late", "All Dead, All Dead" to name a few.

I HATE how the production company recorded this... the band wanted us to be able to hear the crowd. When you go to a Queen concert (when Freddie was still with them), one of the greatest instruments Freddie played was the crowd. They tried to keep audience interaction as a main point, but the production company edited all that out. So please note this from the Montreal concert... the audience interactions were taken out against the band's wishes. I would have loved to hear this & the entire concert with the audience's roars. Imagine watching Live Aid and the crowd's cheers and 'Aaayos ' all removed?! If I remember correctly, Brian May told the fans that they buried this recording for a while because it wasn't considered a good depiction of the band. This is my first time watching you guys so I don't know if you've reacted to others from Montreal, but if you haven't, please remember the crowd was just as into the performance as any other Queen concert!!!!

@@Savage-Reactions it's easy to feel almost hypnotized when it gets to the instrumental. If only I had ever tried LSD, I bet the feelings during White Queen would be enough to believe Heaven may be real. Oh and the piano!! The way Fred smacks the keys and how he head-bobs and moves... if it's possible to be moved by a song, White Queen is the song! In my opinion, it's one of the best Queen songs ever written and might even be better than Bohemian Rhapsody. Unfortunately, the studio version--while still better than ANY song written over the last 35 years--is nothing like the Christmas Eve performance!!!!!
