+123zboom I think you did not understand right what Angeee017 did say. For him/her, for me, for you and for all other hard Queen fans Deacon was/is and will ever be one of four. Allways same big part like Mercury, May and Taylor. That is clear. I mean she/he gives as a realistic sight how much other peoples or journalist - NOT hardcore Queen fans - of the world they see Queen: they see the big voice of Mercury, they see the big riffs of May and the power of Taylor. But must see Deacon only in his shadow and think he is not so important. That this is a fail we know it.

John Deacon is a genius! The first time I heard this song, I’m not kidding, I teared up the moment I heard the first verse of lyrics! That was crazy to me! I’ve never had such a random, immediate and sudden reaction to a song like that before... Just a beautiful piece.....The lyrics are so relatable to anyone who has a dream, big or small, but is always told “no” by most of those around them, or even by society in general. The lines “he spends his evenings alone in his hotel room, keeping his thoughts to himself,” made me really start crying! I graduated high school last year and took a year off to try and figure myself out and what I wanted to... just DO, and every day I sat alone at home (parents working, sibling still goes to grade school, friends going to university... I could have worked but decided not to) dreaming of what I want to be... what I want to change and what I want to leave behind; and I keep those thoughts, those plans, all to myself. What makes it tough is when everyone else around me seems to be aiming for/ encouraging me to aim for that “emerald bar” and that’s 100% awesome if that’s what they want or if that’s what makes them happy and satisfied, but I guess the need to shoot higher is both a blessing and a curse. And it’s hard, sometimes daunting to allow yourself to really think *freely* , because people will doubt and will question if you REALLY have said “ambition,” but we just need to spread these little wings and fly! Show them all wether it’s big or small! Beautiful, meaningful and honest lyrics by John, delivered by Freddie’s amazing voice combined with such a beautiful melody by the best band ever. Gosh, I love Queen! ❤️ (I never type comments this long but I just had to for this one!)
@PhebusdesTours6 жыл бұрын

This is a legendary song written by the incredible John Deacon. As an introvert who is still being bullied in school, I really relate to John. I believe that introverts have a special power, John showed it to us. And it hurts so much that when the shy man wanted a break from all of these, people wasn't able to respect his decision. I think that if those people can just see the world through John's perspective, they will understand how shy introverts feel. We all love John Deacon, don't we? Thank you so much for reading.

To be fair he is miming playing the piano. They're all miming in this video. Or at least if they were actually playing, the sound they'd make out there in Roger's back garden wouldn't be anything like the polished, studio sound you're actually hearing on this. Freddie actually played the piano on the recording for this track. However, that all said, John wrote this song and I think it was his masterpiece ! Fabulous song.

But so Brian, Roger and John. They’ve all written hits, even masterpieces like this one. And this song is a great example of this. People didn’t remember John much. This song made me live. I am Korean and went to boarding school when I was 14 years old. I had quarrels with my peers every day, and every day was a pain because of the school that restrained freedom. Every time I was about to die, I listened to this song, which gave me hope and kept me from dying. A big thank you to John Deacon, who wrote the song, and Queen, who played it.

Honestly, IMO, one of Freddie's best musical and Vocal performaces. his voice was In it's prime and the "raw" grit with his pure power makes this song a dream to listen to. 1:48 when he goes "...wishin' he was MILES AND MILES AWAY" just the pure power there is amazing. I've never seen such an elegant powerhouse of a vocalist come near. Love every queen track, 10/10. But some hold more emotion or nostalgia to me than others.

Bob Wallace Jnr I think he means that a good amount of deacys songs are underrated to like the general public, not the queen fandom. For example everyone knows bohemian rhapsody, while not as many people know this song. And you didn’t have to be such an asshole about it dickhead

You will probably think I'm crazy or something, but I'm literally in love with this song. It's just soo perfect.. I love everything about it the music, the melody, the lyrics, the strong message of freedom.. I'm just so in love with it, and Brian's may guitar arrangement at the end... Well, that's just flawless, Freddie's vocals are here in their prime, Roger's smooth drumming.. I'm really thankful that John Deacon wrote this song

I agree . Even considering that this song is one of their lowest profiled I love it even more than many of the hits ...

Because they had a vision , passion and all of them had different tastes in music but also similarities ...not just a typical rock band who just want to play fast o showing tone virtuosos with music without elaboration and sence. They could do rock n roll , ballads , pop , funk , opera , Latin stuff... whatever they wanted because Queen = Music

The most unique thing about queen, besides having one of the greatest and most versatile vocalists to ever live, is their frequent use of piano.

Written by John Deacon, this is a fan favorite that was never a hit, very underrated song...

This is one of the most underrated songs in *HISTORY* Makes my top three in queen songs. This deserves to be as famous as Somebody to love or Bohemian Rhapsody.

FireWorks This song reminds of some of Bob Dylan’s stuff, in the sense that it tells a story e.g. Tangled Up in Blue

On 10th February 1978 this song was released. I'm so happy that I can listen to it 41 years later. This song still rocks!

The first 4 albums I owned as a teenager were Queens first 4 albums. By this time I was starting to drift away from them then this brilliant John Deacon song dragged me back in!

I'll never understand why this song never charted very well, chronically underrated imo
