I was a Japanese junior high student. When the song was released, I read Queen's interview on a music magazine. They said that, once they were considered as a candy floss idol group due to their looks, though Japanese fans had always been loyal and to their music right from the beginning. They wanted to show their gratitude towards Japanese fans. I felt so excited reading it as one of the Japanese fans.

I love this tribute too as an American cause I'm an long time fan of queen. My twin died and said she wanted to be brave and strong like Freddie and my young husband Larry who died same year as Freddy (heart disease). So this song brings me joy for my deceased sister , spouse , Larry and for fredddys courage ..it has a special message of those brave loved ones

How much of a genius is Brian May for making this rhyme in two languages?

Such an important point... I've been a Queen fan since high school... 1973... and never considered that aspect. I always knew Brian was freakin' brilliant, but this is just another layer of depth. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll never forget it.

Wasn't all music created by the great English man?
@albertogarcia92508 жыл бұрын
+fewhavestrength if you talking about freddie, not really, Brian wrote this song, like we will rock you, the show must go on, hammer to fall among others, the other guys wrote songs too, John deacon wrote another one bits the dust, and Roger Taylor wrote its a kind of magic, radio ga ga and these are the days of our lives among others...
@fewhavestrength8 жыл бұрын
+alberto garcía I was responding to the other guys comment, didn't you read it? Don't forget writing music is different to writing lyrics.

I am reading a book right now where it says that "Japan" was the only country Freddie felt like a real tourist in. Most countries was just a nice place with a hotel and arena. He loved walking around in Japan och started to collect different things that was from the Japanese culture!

From Japan. 「Teo」is 「The hand」,「toriatte」meaning「 Hold hands with each other 」. I think the meaning of the part of the chorus is almost the same as English. This song uses a very beautiful and difficult Japanese,and he gave the wonders of his songs enough in Japanese. The great respect for him, I love. Thanks.

when i was around my mid-teens, on my tape-recorder, I paused every single line, and wrote it down phonetically in the back of my diary. So by the age of 16 I knew this song word for word, even if I didn't know quite what I was saying. In my 20s, I happened to find a fellow Teo Torriatte fan, we walked up to our local children's play area and sat on the swings and shared headphones, and sang it like we meant it! After a couple of replays, a house-owner nearby came yelling at us foreigners to shut up and go home! Ha, This song brings back so many memories, and all good ones. Thanks Queen, for being a band my generation can still be proud of! (sidenote: 24th Nov, my b'day and a sad day for all Queen fans)

Lyrics: [Verse 1] When I'm gone No need to wonder if I ever think of you The same moon shines, the same wind blows For both of us, and time is but a paper moon Be not gone [Verse 2] Though I'm gone It's just as though I hold the flower that touches you A new life grows, the blossom knows There's no one else could warm my heart as much as you Be not gone [English Chorus] Let us cling together as the years go by Oh my love, my love In the quiet of the night, let our candle always burn Let us never lose the lessons we have learned [Japanese Chorus] 手を取り合って このまま行こう 愛する人よ 静かな宵に 光を灯し 愛しき教えを抱き [Verse 3] Hear my song Still, think of me the way you've come to think of me The nights grow long, but dreams live on Just close your pretty eyes and you can be with me Dream on [Japanese Chorus] 手を取り合って このまま行こう 愛する人よ 静かな宵に 光を灯し 愛しき教えを抱き [Bridge] When I'm gone They'll say we're all fools and we don't understand Oh, be strong Don't turn your heart We're all, you're all For all, for always [English Chorus] Let us cling together as the years go by Oh my love, my love In the quiet of the night, let our candle always burn Let us never lose the lessons we have learned.

Teo Toriatte Quando me ne sarò andato Non smettere di chiederti se penso a te. E la stessa luna a splendere . E lo stesso vento a soffiare Per tutti e due,e il tempo non è nient'altro che una luna di carta ... Non è finita. Sebbene me ne sia andato. Brian May. Meravigliosa canzone scritta da Brian e cantata da Freddie.
