Freddie's last ever written track "A Winters Tale" is very wintery and is what he sees at Lake Geneva in his last months of life is very emotional and in the minds eye shows you what the place is and it is spot on as I have visited there. What a place to be. "Thank God it's Christmas" is another great track to listen to.

The name of the album, the name of the song...They thought this would be their last work. And they knew Freddie needed that Miracle that never happened. It's curious to see how some schemes are repeated between "The Miracle" and "Innuendo" albums: the farewell song (Was it all worth it/The show must go on) and the deep message masterpiece (the miracle/innuendo). Time gave Queen an unexpected second chance for spreading their goodbye

Both Freddie and Brian adored Jimi Hendrix. When Freddie was studying at art college (before even meeting Brian and Roger), he was present at every gig Jimi had around London and he made a ton of drawings of Hendrix. 😲 Brian was also mesmerized by Jimi's playing (but his parents made him focus more on his science studies) and he said that Hendrix was (along with The Beatles) like a Bible to Queen. It's interesting that when Freddie's family moved to London from Zanzibar, they were living approximately 500 meters away from Brian's home but Brian met Freddie years after when he and Roger where in a band called Smile and Freddie was a friend of their singer Tim Staffel who was like Freddie attending Art College... 😮 God really works in mysterious ways (like it's said in One Vision)...

While this album was called the miracle, the next album Innuendo truly was a miracle. Music they probably thought they wouldn’t get to make. I loved your enthusiasm and excitement for this one, you clearly enjoyed it a lot. There are only a handful of songs I really like from their later albums, and this is one. You had great observations, insights and commentary on the song. I really like the bass and guitar on this one, so I was happy you focused on them, and I loved your enthusiastic and animated commentary on the guitar, bass and drums following the tempo increase. I like how they lyrics go through various miracles of man and nature throughout history. Thematically it reminds me of "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Nightwish, which goes through the miracle of creation and life from a naturalist point of view; showing that the idea of the miraculous isn't limited to just the religious point of view. Queen's career in the U.S. took a dive after the "I want to break free" single. The reactionary Americans didn't get the joke and were disgusted by the "cross dressing". I suspect too many of them found Roger Taylors short skirt and shapely legs just too much for their fragile masculinity. It was their loss. They didn't get ABBA either and missed out on some of the best pop music of the century.

Whilst true, also the US audience was shifting their attentions elsewhere in the 80s such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna and Cindy Lauper. Big hair rock also became fashionable with bands such as Bon Jovi and Poison. "Old bands" such as Queen were a little lost in the world of rah-rah skirts.

@@celt67 I don't know how it is in Europe, but radio stations here were very bias, they played the same thing over and over till you were so sick of the same songs. So they were the ones who decided what was fashionable, they pushed who we should listen to.

@@celt67 Interesting take. Queen's Live Aid performance cemented their place in the top tier in the 80s, at least in most markets. In hindsight, this and the next album has a somewhat reflective, introspective view intertwined into many of the songs. Although this one doesn't quite have as many as the next. There's a tad more optimism and hopefulness being expressed within the songs. The Miracle being one such song. 'Breakthru', and, 'Rain Must Fall', being 2 others that immediately spring to mind. As with all albums by all artists, the album is like a snapshot of where they were from a psychological point of view, at the time. The band had changed a bit, having not had an studio album to their name for 3 years. The longest period in their history. We know why, now, but back then, it was a bit of an enigma. Something was afoot, but we didn't know what. We just felt they were, in some respects, maturing a little by being more retrospective. They still let their playful side shine through, though.

This album has been recorded between the late 1987 till Martz 1989. The first thing that comes to the educated hears is that in this album is very hard to find the dolby surround system. The remastering too of the sound. It's a little back to the beginning by Queen. Obviously not a complete goin back because synts are still largely used but, in general, the sound is mor clear and less remastered than in A kind of magic or in The works albums or Hot Speace. About this particular song, i'm pretty sure about the fact that it's a Freddie song. It should be particularly easy for the Fans to understand it. I think about it because Freddie were a big fan of Hendrix, he loves Arts (about Mona Lisa), the starting of the song i on the piano (and 90% of songs who start with piano are by Mercury) and the quality of the song in general remind me about the Freddie Mercury style. In General, about this album, they really tryied to do something special afther 3 years of inactivity. Have they reached the goal? i don't know.. i prefer much more the next Queen album. About this album i think there are a lot of good songs and a theme, but i don't like the theme, that basically is 'Everithing is fine'. And i don't like it just because it was a lie ;) They became mature and true in the next album. The album where they basically cannot lie anymore. And there, you can hear a real band. A band of men, of real deep artists, of mature artists. Their best album is absolutely the next. About the sound, this is absolutely the top of the '80s for Queen.

There was a nearly three year gap between this album’s release and A Kind of Magic (June 1986); after what ended up being their final gig at Knebworth Park (9 August 1986), the band decided to temporarily halt their career as Queen as they were dealing with their own personal lives. Brian May himself has recalled how Queen effectively took over their lifestyle amidst a growing audience. They felt that they needed to ration their time and conserve their energy via a lengthy hiatus. May commenced his relationship with Anita Dobson, and Freddie Mercury finished decorating his and Jim Hutton’s home after a shopping trip to Japan. Having seen footage of the band recording and promoting The Miracle album in 1988 and 1989, they sound rather refreshed and laid back, feeling confident to continue their work. They probably lacked any pressure from touring as well, since Mercury told the others (before he revealed his diagnosis) that he was not interested in live performances. This album as a whole seems to reflect this general feel-good attitude. P.S. I recommend Was It All Worth It if possible.

The PayPal issues with the record label Queen were on (Capital) meant that Queen songs stopped getting airplay in the U.S. around half way through the release of Radio Gaga. But around the rest of the world, they grew bigger than before.

First time listening to this song , very nice arrangements, and some of Brian May's guitar solo sounds a bit like Jeff Beck...and as usual so many chords...

React to the song called Was It All Worth It! Please! It's from the same album.

I'd love for Amy to listen to "Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds" but it really needs to be heard as a whole play through, But it is magnificent, and just gets better and better with age in my opinion.

I can go on and on about this song, but what is the purpose? You mentioned it all, so I leave it by this... well done!
