Brian said that he was in so much pain during this time. He had wounds that would not heal, all those tumors (which I forget there real name) and it was just hard for him to stand. Brian May said that Freddie would take a couple shots, drag himself up with the mic and sing. He literally died doing what he loved and this video makes me want to cry due to how brave of him to even make this video and looking as sick as he did. Freddie tried to hid it with make up and that’s also why it’s in black and white as well. We don’t get to see much of that anymore which is saddening tbh

@This is my B00Mstick no. His last song was Mother's Love. Brian May sang the last verse of the song because Freddie died before it was finished. And the colored version is not aa leaked video. It was part of the "Days Of Our Lives" documentary by Queen. It that documentary they said lots of things about their journey up to Freddie's death. They also expressed their anger to the man who took pictures of Freddie looking pale and Roger calling the man a "wanker". They also talked about in the video how they protected Freddie during his last years of fighting aids. Saying "F*ck you" to reporters who repeatedly asks about Freddie's real condition at that time. And lastly the most hearbreaking part is when Roger cried while telling the interviewer about Freddie's last hours and how he was not able to make it to come to Freddie's side moments before he died. 😭

I remember the first time I saw this video and it made me cry. In fact it can still make me cry, it’s extremely poignant now. It was so obviously the Freddie was saying goodbye , he looked incredibly frail, yet what a beautiful performance. So much love and sadness all caught in a song and a video. Freddie was an amazing talent that is still very much missed. ❤

This was mainly written by Roger Taylor, though credited to Queen as a whole. They had been friends since 1969, the year before the official beginning of Queen in 1970, when they tried selling clothes in Kensington Market. Fred said more than once when he went to lunch, Roger sold his jacket while he was away and he would run to find it and buy it back! After Freddie died, in one of the interviews, Roger said in the saddest voice that Freddie was his best friend, as if he had just realized it. He said they met in the evenings after rehearsals for a drink to watch the sunset and then they'd go their separate ways for their evening parties, of course, but they were best friends. I think that I really fell in love with this band when I heard that interview. This video is my second favorite video of this song--second only to hearing Freddie say to all of us, "I still love you."

Wow, the magical way this incredible man had his audience and fans in a spell from the moment he opened his mouth and his angelic voice filled the air .. for those who were so lucky to have seen him on stage..never forget every second of his performance and the rest of the greatest band every to record.. I am very thankful that at least we are blessed to have places like KZbin to come and reminiscing from the early years of Queen..thank you Queen..and especially thank you Freddie for "the best years of my life" rest easy my sweet man..❤️🎙️👑🙏🎹❤️

He did. If you watch the documentary on the making of this video, Brian said Freddie had a couple of vodka bottles on the video set. Freddie would have a couple drinks of vodka before a take, prop himself up at the mixing desk with the mic, and, to quote Brian, Freddie would "go for it."

When I see musicians like Freddie Mercury, Johnny Cash, and David Bowie, among others, creating art up to the very end of their days, it becomes so clear to me that to an artist, the creation of art is life itself. This is not something true artists can shut off and wait until life is exactly as it should be before they choose to create. I feel inspired to keep creating when I see this, even more than I already do now, and I am so grateful for these artists and their work. What a gift to witness.
