In spite of Victoria’s lack of self awareness when it came to some aspects of parenting, she still loved her daughters and cared for them deeply. This perspective is very unforgiving of Victoria’s behavior, but it’s also exaggerated hyperbole. It was a different time and the Queen was bred to be self absorbed, yet Victoria maintained a deep sense of devotion to all of her daughters. She played them off against each other. She was also exacting and overly critical. Nevertheless, she ultimately loved all of her daughters, and she was genuinely beloved by them. That really doesn’t come through in this interpretation of their story, though it’s still informative, with some delightful details.

Not only names, but words too, eg, epitome is pronounced e-pit-o-me (e as e in bed, pit as you say it, o as o in off, me, as me, ie, myself) not “epitoam” as she pronounced it lol
