Actually, Queen Victoria simply hated being pregnant, and delivering, and she didn't like children when they were infants, and that is a point when she called them "frog-like". Ozzy Osbourne and she must have had a very intense sex life, otherwise there would not have been so many children. Due to her and upbringing, she had a rather bipolar personality.

Vicky didn't "grow up to be so intelligent because she had to follow a rigorous educational schedule". She was voracious for knowledge virtually from birth, a child Baron Stockmar regarded as "gifted to the point of genius". Her tutors could hardly keep up with her, that's how exceptional she was. Her younger brother Bertie (later Edward VII) was subjected to a similarly intense teaching regime but it failed as he was not intellectual like his sister and buckled under the strain.

@@dianawardrip5171 I think Bertie suffered because he was held to the impossible standard set by a more gifted sister and by an extraordinarily rigid, neurotic father. He wasn’t as intelligent as Vicky, and his tutors and parents failed to accept that and adjust their expectations for him. He also wasn’t suited to the style of schooling that required him to sit still for hours at a time. He probably would have done quite well in a less formal environment that engaged him in a more active, tactile way. Naturally, he rebelled with tantrums. The teaching regimen in which the genius Vicky thrived only harmed Bertie, who-while never his sister’s intellectual equal-did not grow up to be a stupid man.

I always thought Vicky the most attractive of Queen Victoria's daughters, rather than the least. Her figure was just a little round, but her face was lovely. All the other siblings had those long, hook noses, including the queen. And of course, there was Vicky's amazing intellect, which has been written about many times.

She was the prettiest. She didnt look like her mother, just inherited her height. She is the most distinct looking of her siblings, the others look so alike. Her face looks way more developed. Way more attractive then Louise, who is ...I dunno how she was considered the most beautiful.

Amy Neill. This could describe my mother. A highly intelligent lady who was not allowed to continue her education on the bullying tactics of her step mother. She was a very frustrated intellectual lady her whole life. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond her control in her adult life she was unable to do further studies. She did however take great pride in two of her children who were very intelligent and achieved their ambitions.

It is folly to judge Queen Victoria based on today’s societal standards. In the 1800s, Queen Victoria’s opinions was not out of the norm. The relationship with Albert was always her number one relationship. It was common for children to die due to disease and this was a time when children did not enjoy the focus of their parents as they do now. They were to be seen and not heard. Their opinions didn’t matter. And many, like the Queen, had trouble adapting to relating to their children as adults. Add in the narcissism that goes hand in hand with being told constantly that you were chosen by God to be Queen, and there you go.

Helena's pictures show that she was quite lovely. Being a middle child amongst ALL those children must have been hard; she must have been often overlooked. If all these women would have had birth control and modern day birth delivery methods, so much suffering could have been prevented. First, QV would not have been forced to have child after child. She hated babies and thought they looked like frogs. As a child she had no friends, no children around, no babies to be curious about, so no wonder she had no interest in her babies. Had she been more curious and willing to learn, her children might have turned out better. However, she was also queen and all her pregnancies and births were such a terrible BOTHER!! And then, the worst thing of all was that she was an unknowing carrier of the hemophilia gene and ironically, she spread this dread disease throughout all the kingdoms of Europe, as Victoria engineered marriages for all her children. Her youngest, Leopold, was a hemophiliac and grew to be a young man before he died after a fall. Princess Vicky was brilliant but Bertie was a dullard. Too bad Princess Vicky could not have been queen. To the creator of this video, great info but that background music needed to be varied or removed altogether.

There are some basic flaws in this video, first there was simply no "Empress of Prussia", a title which never existed. Prussia was a Kingdom. She was Queen of Prussia and German Empress, for 99 days. The 2nd German Empire was created after German unification in 1870 and her Father in Law was created German Emperor (not Emperor of Germany!) still being King of Prussia. Secondly, it was not about being hated or loved by the people of Prussia. It was being bullied at the Prussian Court which was extremely stiff and conservative and being outsider with her liberal ideas and that of her husband the crown prince Friedrich.

Of course they had the right. However, they don't have the right to hurt people who cannot respond (without it becoming: they say, they say). They could have lived a private, classier life, too. They are happy to use the titles if it brings in the funds, it seems! That's NOT the royal way.

In many ways, the daughters are more interesting than the sons. They actually were people and had lives outside of being the wife of “so-and-so”. I just finished watching the video on he deaths of the sons and except for King Edward VII and Leopold (with his hemophilia), the other two are really boring. One had a long career in the Army, the other the same in the Navy. Not much to say about that.

The first part is a maybe Kaiser Frederick I (or whatever he name was) was more liberal and willing to listen to Britain’s demand for parity in ships and talk the Balkans out of war. So maybe. Kaiser Wilhelm II was never going to become King in UK. He had too many people ahead of him and Britain nor Europe would not accept a personal union between UK and Germany.
