You should check out Queen Amina of Zaria (present day Northern Nigeria) who lived in the 16th century. She led thousands of men to war on horseback and decimated the best warriors any town could provide. She never lost a battle, and it was reported of her that she had no time for marriage as she devoted her life to warfare and leadership. The men she spent the night with, she would kill in the morning before moving on to the next battle. She was well feared.
