There is no way I would have guessed that started out as a chunk of tin foil. Was so interesting to see your process and how you used each tool and medium. The shark’s amazing but I’m kind of in love with the stand.

Thank you so much! The hardest part for me was smoothing the clay. It takes time and patience. Also, I pre-baked the shark tooth using a heat gun before inserting them into the shark's jaws.

I'm not sure where you would need that scene, but I love it. Would it look better with a glossy finish to look wet? Maybe a wet puddle on the base under the shark where he's dripped...
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
I am actually planning to apply to be an IGMA artisan in the animal figure category. I intend to use this piece as one of my 5 submissions. I like that idea of dripping water! UV resin would be great for that purpose. Thank you for watching

@@queencityminis oh wow that's great! How long have you been doing minis? When you brushed the whole shark body I thought maybe that was glossy mod podge but it must have been something else
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 Yes, it was glossy Mod Podge! I made my first miniature when I was 18. I made a Corgi dog. I still have it somewhere. It's pretty crude but cute. I also made some window boxes out of popsicle sticks filled with clay flowers around the same time. I made a few miniatures throughout the years as gifts but the hobby turned into a huge passion for me in Dec 2020. A friend of mine was moving and gave me a dollhouse kit she had been planning to throw out. I didn't end up finishing the house bc that isn't my thing but I've been making miniatures practically every day ever since.
@recoveringsoul7552 жыл бұрын
@@queencityminis which kit was it? I bought the Dura Craft Lafayette kit new for $20, just four rooms, but never built it . Thought it was too much, maybe I should start with one room before I ruin the kit. So I planned it out, husband helped me cut the wood pieces from the plywood I got. If memory serves I wasn't sure if i wanted one window or two on the back so I cut out both. But never sanded them to finish it. Did get a Dremel, a miter saw and miter box, an exacto knife set. Went to a miniature show. Got books . Lol, sigh. Seemed like I needed a big workspace and had a garage. I really have no excuses but a little more help or encouragement would have been nice. Eventually found the kit I ordered as a completed build so I bought that. Picked up a little furniture for it. Got the house here but my craft supplies are in storage or stolen it's hard to get motivated. As a kid I wanted a dollhouse, would walk to the library and sit on the floor in the children's section for hours reading books about dollhouses and tiny furniture. Made salt dough to make food for my Barbies like a bowl of peas and a turkey on a platter. In my minds memory they came out great, but I'm probably remembering wrong, haha. I made newspapers for my dolls, paper dolls and clothes, and even a rather elaborate paper doll house that was flat and opened like a book, where the front cover was the front of the house, with an open window, turn the page to see the other side of that wall and inside the living room and each page was like that. Made half gallon milk cartons into two story houses for my troll dolls. Made a Barbie chair from an oatmeal box with felt for the padding and contact paper on the outside. Made little drawers for my dresser with old food boxes from the kitchen and contact paper. Tried my hand at Origami when I was nine and still like that, but my books are misplaced. I made my own jewelry and later some for the 16 inch dolls I collected for awhile. Helped my kids make dioramas for school, started putting electrical in my son's so torches and fire pits would light up, and stars and full moon in the sky. Michael's sometimes had a battery operated light set with ten LED lights but each light was on a separate wire, so you could run them in different directions all over. It was great fun at open house meetings to hear other kids excitedly say to their moms "Mom!! Come over here look at this one!! It LIGHTS P!! 😂 loved being able to help my kids shine at school. I was into scrapbooking for years. I need ficus I'm too scatter brained. Too many years raising kids in not the best environment
@recoveringsoul7552 жыл бұрын
I did decorate a mini Christmas tree with lights and gifts and a tree skirt, put it under a dome though. I also am into pop up books, they fascinate me. I collected Star Wars and Star Trek action figures for a while so I have such a wide array of things I like. I like everything!! Except sewing, I tried it and didn't have the patience but I did collect some patterns for different dolls I had. Oh, took class in cake decorating. When you have kids you have to support them in whatever they are doing so you're pulled in every direction and can't focus on what you want or even need. I as a kid made some things out of felt, made a guitar for my boyfriend who played guitar my senior year, started with a popsicle stick for the neck and went from there. A stuffed guitar, haha. Made an old pair of jeans into little stuffed lizard just hand sewing, made little felt bookmarks with animal heads. Tried cross stitch, Made plastic canvas ornaments . Tried knitting and crochet. Calligraphy. Gaah I need my art supplies!! The urge to create is killing me

I never gave much thought about sculpting a Shark. But after watching you do this I think I would it some time. I have a request could you maybe list the products that you use. Like what type of clay and what kind of paint flat, semi glass, oil or
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
No problem! I narrate most of my videos but didn't for this one. I used Medium Sculpey clay and painted the shark with thinned acrylic paint. I used US Art supply thinner. The paint is matte. I sealed it with Matte Mod Podge which has some sheen.
