Her voice is young and mature at the same time. If you've followed Brandy's music including the unreleased songs, you'll know that vocally she can sing in so many different tones yet sound exactly like herself. She presents different tones vocally in every musical era she's had and taps into those tones from time to time whenever she sings. Maybe you've notice that her tone here sounds a lot like her Debut album. What's scary is I don't think the general public has even seen everything Brandy can do with her voice.

I'm pretty sure it's because of her voice type. I think she's a Coloratura Mezzo-Soprano like Beyonce, but her voice is placed slightly higher than B's. When she sings higher, she sounds like a Soprano, but she also has Beyonce's low notes.

She's always been a lower Mezzo-Soprano that has utilized her low notes on songs like "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Dangerously In Love." However, her tone has gotten darker over the years for two reasons: age and pregnancy (b/c of the hormones). This is quite common. Kelly Rowland has even talked about how the same thing happened to her. Brandy's voice has matured in the same way, but she is choosing to sing lighter here.
