Gotta say I really appreciate Jon Theodore for performance on this track. That hi-hat/snare syncopation is tricky, and you hit it masterfully. Great fucking cover.

The hi-hat syncopation with the snare is actually quite basic on this song. If you listen to the interludes on The Evil Has Landed, however, that's where Theodore gets sneaky. This song is meant to be groovy, not particularly complex. Theodore fills some creative things in here and there but it's mainly a consistent beat.

@@EK63315 it's "consistent" but it's particularly in how tight and specific it's played. It's a simple beat but playing it as tight and consistent is not necessarily for beginners either. It's funk drumming through and through. You can't really think about it within regular rock sensibilities. The groove and feel is hard to translate, even though the beat is simple. There's a reason James Brown's drummer is so highly regarded.
