The penultimate interglacial, 130,000 -115,000 BP was up to 2°C warmer and the sea levels then were 5 or 6 metres higher. There's nothing "abnormal" about current climate. Or the rate of climate change. Younger Dryas, just 12,900 - 11,500 years ago, had much more rapid temperature change than today.

I wonder why they call it the wet season. 🤔

Pretty much the same thing that happens every year it rains in the north around December, unless we are in a drought period. Yet another reason why an inland highway west of the Great Divide linking FNQ to the south would be a very good idea.
@Martinoconnor-du6lc8 күн бұрын
there's a couple oh highways. from charters towers down or hughenden down to winton. or tablelands to charters
@Luum818 күн бұрын
@Martinoconnor-du6lc There was a plan a few years ago to create something like the Bruce, 2 lanes either way, just on the west of the Dividing Range, from well up north, Croydon? Normanton? down and into NSW. It would take years and billions in funding but FNQ wouldn't be cut off by coastal flooding anymore, might even help give some of the smaller inland towns a population boost. Haven't heard anything more regarding it though.

People have very short memories 🤦♀️🤦♀️ this happens every 12 years ffs. Maybe don’t build dams above towns so when they’re full you don’t wash out all the people living below it 🤷♀️🤷♀️ funny that

Stop exaggerating and catastrophising normal Queensland summer - "wet season" - weather. There are still plenty of us who remember this sort of weather during our own lifetimes, let alone being aware of the warnings of the old indigenous people who told the first settlers of floods that were bigger than anything seen since. When you look at the extensive flood plains, you can see there have been big floods in the past. Hint, they're called "flood plains" for a very good reason. This country has always had hot summers that can be either drought or flood. We've always had bushfires, but if the intensity has increased and caused more damage, consider the effects of "green" policies that prevent the management of forestry to reduce fuel loads, and how many people now live by choice in fire prone areas, right among the bush that burns.
